Yarrow herb made into tea is better. Holland and Barratt. Take 3 times a day as soon as it starts.

I love the stuff. Brilliant at shortening my period and stopping me flooding a tampon and towel every hr!!!!

I wish the gp told me about it yrs ago. I used to buy mine over the counter and then the gp refused to prescribe it I started buying over the counter in bulk abroad.

I've been on and off it for the last 10 yrs. What I found was after a good few months I went back to having normal periods. Maybe 5 or 6 months I would have to start them again.

I've constantly had issues with my periods since I was 13, had scans, tests, loads of medication including those mentioned above, nothing worked until late last year when a gynaecologist prescribed me cerazette, a mini pill, had no issues at all since!

I've tried everything I think over the years. What works for one won't work for another I'm afraid.

I've been taking diclofenac for nearly 10 years now & it's the only thing that's ever helped combined with Loestrin pill (I have to take a low oestrogen pill as oestrogen feeds my endometriosis).

I've been putting off having a Mirena coil for 8 years now but only have a few months of pills left & GP won't let me have any more.

The best was Norethisterone which I took to induce a menopause at 19 - it was brilliant. GP's will prescribe short doses for if due on but going on holiday

Me too virtually none agreed with me. The only thing that helped my periods was the original implant which stopped them completely.

It made me put on weight though so i got seterilised in the end. No difference to periods but no worries about side affects xx

I've been prescribed omeprazole to protect my stomach but it's made my periods longer - gone from 6/7 days to 8/9. Dr at GUM clinic says omeprazole can cause bleeding - we can't win, can we???

For those who have heavy periods but know they don't want anymore children, maybe look into having abalation. This is where they lazed the lining of your womb. I had it done a few years ago for heavy periods. It was the best thing I had to stop mine. It works for some and not for others. But I'm sure it's a high success rate.

I got told my some idiot consultant that I could take it with the other 2 meds that have been mentioned. Thing is they are all acid based so it rotted my stomach lining and I lost 3st in weight. I used to have the worst issues. I would be on for 2 weeks be fine for nearly 2 weeks but then start again. I would pass out and have to stay in bed for weeks at a time. Im now missing an ovary and taking cerrazette all the time so I don't get monthlys. Not sure how healthy that is but I would rather that than what was happening

I've had this twice but the relief didn't last long - due to my body rather than anything else.

I want a hysterectomy as was promised when I was 30 but I surprisingly got pregnant again & they moved it to 40. I'm 40 next month but now there's no funding unless it's a matter of life & death

I'm having issues at the moment and awaiting a hysterectomy. Norothestirone (probably spelt wrong) were AMAZING at stopping my bleed very quickly but made me personally feel icky (bloated and kind I had a mild hangover) was on tranexamic acid last period and they didn't do much to make it lighter in all honesty, although it was less painful (I normally take mefaminic acid for that).

They're worth a go as less yuk than Norothestirone as those are hormone based and tranexamic acid isn't.

Cerazette no longer works for me (roll on taking the lot out and obliterating all my woes!!) lol x

Tranexamic acid is great, I bled for 3 months near enough last year(delayed me joining this site!) And it sure lightened it. Norhisterone stops them but I worry about its side effect, but if you can get tranexamic avid,do, its amazing x

In the end I took my dad with me. I was only 18 though & been suffering from day 1 when I was 11. He refused to leave my consultants office until I was taken seriously. It took another year to be properly diagnosed & treated.

Yes go to your gp and just say you cannot live with the day to day bleeding etc. I couldn't deal with it as being a Full time carer I was just drained all the time and struggling to do what I had to do for mum. I mentioned it to the gp and within a few weeks I was referred to see a gynocologist and about three month later was called in for the op. It's not a major op, day ward, out the same day. A little sore for a few weeks, but I had no more periods. But since then Iv had my overuse taken away due to ovarian cancer. But at the time it was definitely the right option for me

It is bad - I try not to rant but it does ruin my life at times. I'm sick, pass out, have crashed my car into a bus, I don't just bleed vaginally either - can be from nose or bum. It's disgusting & debilitating. My boys have missed out on my time. It's also as common as diabetes yet not commonly heard of.

I was prescribed that as my periods suddenly became one long, heavy period, 60+ days at a time. It did help stop the constant flow, but the problem kept recurring and in the end I had to have a coil fitted.

I was also prescribed something else that did the same job but can't remember what it was called.

I'm sorry I can't help in any other way but to recommend the best towel for heavy flow..

Always infinity in the metallic dark blue/purple box. They're slightly dearer than normal and they are a bit like a memory foam mattress but they're great if you're heavy. They're soft and don't irritate either.

I hope you find some relief soon. Hugs.
