Anyone got any yummy recipies they fancy sharing on here I do a nice bannana cake ......

Banana Cake

4oz butter or margarine

6oz sugar (granulated, caster, or mix in some demerara, whatever you have to hand)

8oz self raising flour

2 eggs

2 large or 3 medium, very ripe bananas

Heat the oven to gas mark 4; 180C

Grease a 2lb loaf tin.

Mash the bananas with a sturdy fork.

Cream the butter and sugar together and mix in the eggs

Mix together the two yellow sludges you now have.

Mix in the flour.

Scrape into the loaf tin and bake for 40 minutes then lower teh temperature to gas mark 2; 150C and cook for a further 30 minutes.

Try to let it cool (turned out on a rack) before you devour it.

One that has saved wars - shocked people and those that are mad on diets can't resist is etc etc ;

Vanilla sponge mix.

Filling - fresh strawberries and fresh whipped cream.

Can't believe I am sharing this secret power !

Amazing how many I've made and the results

Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding (Nigel Slater)

Ingredients

butter, for greasing

250g/9oz stale bread, cut into 3cm/1¼in cubes

100g/3½oz chocolate chips

3 free-range eggs

40g/1½oz soft light brown sugar

2 tbsp dark rum

125ml/4fl oz double cream

500ml/17fl oz full-fat milk

4 tsp demerara sugar

Preparation method

1.Preheat the oven to 170C/325F/Gas 3. Grease an ovenproof dish lightly with butter.

2.Tip in the stale bread cubes. Toss in the chocolate chips to spread evenly among the bread cubes.

3.Whisk together the eggs, light soft brown sugar, rum, double cream and milk. Pour this mixture over the bread and press the cubes down to coat them in the liquid.

4.Leave all this to soak for 20 minutes, then sprinkle with the demerara sugar and put straight into the oven for 40-50 minutes. (If your oven browns unevenly, turn the dish around halfway through cooking.) The pudding is ready when the custard has set and has a light wobble.

5.Let the dish stand for a while before serving - if you can. The smell as it bakes is almost overwhelming and it can be hard to wait once it is out of the oven.

Turn left at the Singing Ringing Tree

Magic Chocolate Pudding

125g plain flour

pinch of salt

60g caster sugar

2 tsp baking powder

120ml milk

2 tbs cocoa powder (drinking chocolate works just as well)

40g melted butter

1 egg

couple of drops of vanilla essence

For the topping:

180g muscovada sugar (or caster sugar)

2 tbs cocoa powder (or drinking chocolate)

250ml boiling water.

Pre-heat oven to 180c or Gas 4.

Sift the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and cocoa into a bowl.

Beat together the milk, melted butter, egg and vanilla essence and then mix well into the flour mixture.

Pour into a greased pie dish.

Sprinkle the topping sugar and cocoa over the mixture, then pour the boiling water over the pudding. Carefully place in oven for approx 45 mins until will risen and firm.

The pudding will be sat in it's own chocolate sauce which can be spooned over the top. Service with cream or ice cream.

Clootie Dumpling.

1lb self raising flour

1 cup sugar

2 cups sultanas or currants

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon mixed spice

2 dessertspoons treacle or syrup

¼ lb margarine

1 carrot or 1 apple – grated

Mix with milk to a medium consistency.

Spread a damp muslin cloth on the worktop and place the mixture in the centre. Bring the corners together and tie with string.

Half fill a large pot with boiling water and place a plate at the bottom of the pot.

Place the dumpling in the pot and boil hard for 30 minutes. Reduce heat and boil for a further 2 and a half – 3 hours.

Take dumpling out of the pot and unwrap. Place on the plate in from of the fire.

When the ‘skin’ begins to dry it’s ready to eat.

Copied from the very faded handwritten recipe in my late mother's cookbook.

Tea Bread

Ingredients

8 oz (225 g) raisins

8 oz (225 g) currants

8 oz (225 g) sultanas

4 oz (110g) whole candied peel, cut into ¼ inch (5 mm) pieces

8 oz (225 g) demerara sugar

10 fl oz (275 ml) Lapsang Souchong, Earl Grey or any other hot tea

1 large egg lightly beaten with 2 tablespoons milk

1 lb (450 g) self-raising flour

Begin this the evening before by placing all the fruits, including the candied peel, in a bowl, then dissolve the sugar in the hot tea, pour this over the fruits, cover the bowl and leave it overnight so the fruits become plump and juicy.

The next day, pre-heat the oven to gas mark 3, 325°F (170°C) add the beaten egg mixture to the bowl containing the fruits. Then sift in the flour and give everything a really good mixing. Now divide the mixture between prepared loaf tins and bake them in the centre of the oven for 1¼-1½ hours, until they feel springy in the centre. Then straight away, loosen them with a palette knife and turn them out on to a wire rack to cool.

A Flying Scotsman.

Mix three glasses of whisky

2½ glasses Italian Vermouth

1 tbsp bitters

1 tbsp of sugar syrup.

Mix thoroughly and pour into a couple of well chilled Scotsmen.

beans on toast

1 tin of Heinz beans

a slice of bread

Put the bread in the toaster, stick the beans in the microwave for about 2 mins ish.. once both done,, pour the beans on the toast and ENJOY!

Chocolate and Guinness Cake

Makes: around 12 slices

Prep time; 10-15 mins

Cooking time: 45 mins

For the cake:

250ml Guinness

250 g unsalted butter

75g cocoa

400g caster sugar

11x142ml pot of sour cream

2 eggs

1 tbsp real vanilla extract

275g plain flour

2.5 tsp bicarbonate of soda

For the topping:

300g Philadelphia cream cheese

150g icing sugar

125ml double cream

Preheat the oven to 180c/350f gas mark 4 and line a 23 cm spring form tin

Pour the Guinness into a saucepan, add butter and heat, until melted, when you should whisk in the cocoa and sugar

Beat the sour cream with the eggs and vanilla and add to the pan. Whisk in the flour and bicarbonate of soda.

Pour the cake batter into the tin and bake for 45 mins to an hour. Leave to cool completely in the tin on a cooling rack.

Whip the cream cheese, until smooth, sieve over the icing sugar, then beat together. Add the cream and beat again. Ice the top of the cake so it resembles the frothy top of the famous pint.

I got the recipie off the internet honest didnt realise youd already posted it on this forum I just googled a recipie for bannana cake and this one came up
