When people don't know the names Emerson, Lake and Palmer, you know you are getting old.

West Midlands

Renowned keyboard player from 60s band "The Nice" then "Emerson Lake & Palmer" one of THE biggest bands of the 70s.

Fanfare for the common man still blows my mind

I was a young punk at the time but loved Fanfare for the common man as well as the "the Rah Band" - the crunch and "Space by Magic Fly

what a great year

So it seems ;

He had been very ill for awhile ( rumour cancer?), recently cancelled done concerts;

Perhaps the way out if it was incurable .......

ELP was one of them bands who appealed to the nerdy lads in our school.....

You know the sort of lad who cared his books around in a satchel and remained a virgin well into his late twenties,,,

"Sadly it would seem that be took his own life

RIP"

That's always a tragic scenario .....

But I can only hope the motivation for prematurely ending his own life is understood and accepted by those close to him ....

Looking back over his very talented career, he certainly was "A Lucky Man"
