Are Britons trustworthy or are we suspicious and happy to cheat the system if we think we can get away with it...

Depends on the what, the how and the who. Most of us enjoy getting away with something or cheating the system: for example how many of us who have had PPI refunds actually were mis-sold it in the first place

Some are some ain't. I've seen some of the worst undeserving people get away with cheating the system.

Not specifically....

More like if you think you can get away with tipping the balance in your favour but knowing you're leaving someone-else short changed albeit a faceless corporation or just getting a freebie in your shopping basket because the assistant failed to scan it properly ..... sort of thing....

Nah...I've turned some very crooked money when I've needed to.

I'm all lovely and law abiding and a proper member of society until I need not to be.

Yeah.

Just because there's laws there doesn't mean i agree with them, or that they're even right, or that they protect me or others.

I can't say we are all honest. But as a country we try to do the right thing.

"can the op define honest and cheat, some cheat take to benefit loved ones, some cheat at cards"

Ah but that's the thing

It's about how we individually define honesty and where we feel vindicated in deviating from rules or guidelines society has evolved to help provide a level playing field.....

i think those that willingly cheat the system,by both tax and benefit need a good thrashing and those that are seen to cheat the tax in a legal way need to ask to leave

I like to think that I'm.honest, I found a purse years ago with about £200 in it, I went to the house (the address was on the driving licence) and gave it back, but honestly, if I found any amount if cash with no indication if where it came from it who it belonged to, I'd keep it, I'd love to be all noble and shit but I'm a flawed human being, just like everyone else.

I've worked in some countries where gaining the upper hand using fair means or foul are pretty much equally accepted behaviours ....

i'm sure as shit not paying full taxes until those with more money do first. all legit btw.

and i do participate in things that try to get them to pay taxes but the system is against that so we're kind of fucked and have to wait until they play nice and pay them, which they never do.
