Swearing has gone up. Salford is introducing a fine for swearing in public. Whilst the council has diminished service standards in many areas, due to central government cuts etc, new wardens will charge £100 if you contravened the new rule.

I don't know if it's per word and thus if you're caught saying bum, you may as well throw in an arsehole or two, plus a snatch at cunt, for good measure. Or if they're multilingual and would still catch you, if swearing in another language.

If caught, say after some oik rams themselves into you, would you relieve yourself of a right mouthful? Or are you so above that level?

Will Stockport return to become the envy of the world? Never a bad word spoken there.

Would it be fairer to fine say £50 for 'bloody' but more for 'fxck' etc?

I would be quite poor quite quickly. I gave up swearing and chocolate for Lent, and it turns out I like swearing more than chocolate.

You're right Diamond, we've good national laws and probably some bylaws too there, covering behaviour. (Hope you had a great birthday btw!).

I usually swear alone or if I'm in good (bad) company.

Inflation - it's £100 there now, to pay for the new jobsworth wardens, who'll patrol the streets.

Thing is though it wouldnt just be swearing you where being done for. If you where swearing loudly enough for a police officer to come running youd be at least causing a disturbance in a public place

I wonder if the wardens will go undercover, as they're going to be suppressing their income, if they're highly visible?

I just see it as a daft thing to be doing.

Football fans come through - no swearing? They'll happily wait around for tickets to be issued

If they catch you just say you are a Tourette syndrome sufferer and you can't help it on medical grounds.

Throw in the odd "Fuck!" just to prove the point more strongly if you like.

Just tell the warden to fuck off.

Would you get fined for swearing in a foreign language though? Would they have to employ multi-lingual wardens? Kulwa! Bazmeg!
