"I recently moved to a house with an electric hob and oven. Having always had gas hobs and ovens in the past I am really struggling to cook on electric. Any hints or tips please" . Is the hob halogen or induction please? As for the oven, heat something that is cheap to test it, like pizza or chips. 190 deg C is about Gas Mark 5/6 I believe.

"Its induction" . With the right saucepans it should be a lot faster to heat up (as in contents inside the saucepan) and cool down (as in the surface of the hob) than a halogen hob. My advice would be to boil water in each of your saucepans/frying pan and gauge the time it takes to boil. Practice makes perfect, and don't walk away and leave anything unattended for long until you are mastered using the hob.

"Know its cheating but i like uncle Bens microwave rice" . I refuse to pay over the odds for something that can be done relatively cheaply and easily.
