I haven't got the best memory for faces as it is, I'm always forgetting names of friends of friends, But what I find worse is when I bump into someone I have worked with, As soon as they have removed there working clothes hard hat etc am totally lost, The amount of people I have bumped into in shops/pubs and they start talking to me and I have to play along not knowing who they are

Sometimes its not until I see them back in work before I think ah its him

I do that all the time. In fact it happened to me today when I went back to the town I grew up in. Someone said hello and I couldn't work out who they are, it was someone I had known for 20 odd years but not seen for ages

on the road to nowhere in particular

I recognise people but if it is in a different environment I quite often don't have a clue who they are. It takes me a long time to learn names. Once I know their name it isn't a problem

Leicester

I'm exactly the same. When my children were younger I trained them to ask someone their name if I was stopped and started chatting and hadn't greeted them by it.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

A small percentage of people cannot easily recognise faces. It's called Prosopagnosia. Some people have a milder form of this where you can recognise faces but you place the face in a specific context/in specific clothes etc.

I'm not very good at all at recognising faces and have inadvertently walked right past people I should have said hello to before. I'm brilliant at remembering names though.

I'm great with faces but crap at remembering names....one of my nightmares is having to introduce 'thingy' to 'thingy'...

I'm the same. I may not remember their names but I will remember stupid trivial things about them, their jobs, that they have children etc. I usually to the introductions as "you two have a lot in common, you both have boys around the same age" and then leave it to them to give each other their names.
