After my 4th week long stay in hospital since August and countless trips to a&e in that time I would would just like to commend all u nurses for ur hard work and dedication. I have seen abuse to nurses and some physically attacked and I can't commend u enough. The way u approach patients u put some of the senior doctors to shame. On 2 2 occasions where some doctors have made me cry with there rudeness and treatment of me as just a number u nurses have been there and treat me as if I was family and giving me nice comforting hugs etc. I really do commend u all x

Being referred to consultant in london now to continue search for what is wrong but at least this stay has ruled out many things and have rejigged all pain meds to try and keep that under control

Well said, my mum is currently in hospital after a heart attack and all staff, especially the nurses, have been fantastic to her and us. Good luck to you, hope you get sorted soon !

We rely heavilly on the NHS on a daily basis due to my son's chronic illness. All the staff in his team who care for him are fantastic

I work for the NHS, I do district nursing though, its shocking how rude some people are to you, even more so when you go out to their homes, they think because it's their house they can talk to you like shit and its our job to stand there and just take it because the minuit you say anything back or walk out they put a compliant in about you

That's scandalous, you people do a difficult, but great job, sorry to hear you are treated so badly, we've always had a great service from the NHS and have every confidence in them.

Nurse here also... We are on the front line when pople and their loved ones are hurt, upset, angry and just emotionally vulnerable. We are their first point of contact and sometimes that spills over.

Abuse in the work place is never acceptable and it's nice to see that the public recognise that.

Hope you are better soon

Yes you are in the front line and people are normally upset in the hospital environment and unfortunately take it out on the poor medical staff. It takes someone special to do this type of work, but, from my experience, thank goodness we have you all to help us through traumatic times.

London

I was a student nurse in the 70s. I couldn't stomach it, left it for teaching in inner London colleges, a cake walk in comparison. My mum and aunts were all nurses and proud to be so.

A nurse saved my life. Going over the head of the consultant and sending a community midwife to visit me as she was worried about my blood pressure.

Over the years I've received excellent care from the nhs, nurses in particular, but if my experience of the nhs on Saturday is indicative of things to come...God help us all!

Another nurse here although have recently left the NHS...its nice to see nurses being appreciated as it's mostly bad press and criticism that's about!

Hope you're feeling better OP

How things have changed. I had first hand knowledge of this. In hospital 2 years ago ,couldn't sing their praises any higher. Fantastic job done. High praise.

However in hospital a couple of weeks ago, couldn't beleive the change and not for the better. I hope I don't end up in hospital again. I know it's not the same for everyone/ everywhere but I was shocked at the change of attitude and attention and just care on the whole. Sad to see

My point exactly sadly. It started when I entered to signs everywhere saying the Nora virus was in the hospital. It went downhill from there...Six and a half hours of misery.

I genuinely believe they do a great job, I honestly do.

But I disagree with placing certain vocations on a pedestal.

My mum was really ill with a form of lukemia and had lots of time as an inpatient and outpatient and I could never fault the treatment she received. All nurses were brilliant with my mum and also understood how dad and my brother and me were feeling through out it all.

The day my mum died there was one nurse and me present and even the nurse cried with me which made me realise that they have such a hard and emotionally draining job xx

They do a remarkable job. They are human and will falter...as we all do but we should value the service they provide...and remember how hard it is. Thank you. Genuinely.

I second that ...I've been in hospitals a lot since September of last year as a cancer patient and I must say all the staff were absolutely fantastic and very compassionate

I felt sorry for the elderly being looked after by some of them......

There are some amazing health care professionals within the Nhs but like any other profession they're are shite ones too.

Well in my recent experience, they deserve to be on a pedestal. Thank you and sorry I'm so ' over the top' but thanks to them I still get to give a mother's day card on Sunday.
