FabSwingers.com forum: Spa afternoon after a baby ?

Friend had a baby 2 weeks ago, I would like to take her out for a spa afternoon treat for a few hours (massage / facial etc) , in your motherhood experience is this to soon after birth - should I wait a month or 2 (I would rather it be a surprise)

Would you have welcomed this so soon ?

It's a lovely idea. I suppose it depends on her really, some mums are happy to leave their newborns for a few hours, some not.

Also depends if she is breastfeeding as well in demand as newborns are quite unpredictable in that.

Posted too soon, personally I'd wait a month or 2, just because of all the hormonal and body changes women go through, I really enjoyed a pampering session about 3 months after my littlest was born, I wouldn't have felt comfortable in myself doing it sooner.

Id say wait a little bit. Some ladies can still be bleeding some time after having their bundle of joy... Also if feeding I would be uncomfortable to leave it in the first few weeks...

Wait at least 6 weeks, until then she'll be a mess of hormones. If she's breastfeeding it will need to be well established to even get away for a few hours.

I agree with this. Some people don't like leaving their baby when it's so new and vulnerable.

Once she starts mentioning needing a break i'm sure she'd love your offer.

Some mothers think the idea of leaving their baby is great. Then the reality hits and they end up very stressed and don't enjoy themselves.

Some women have babies and are very happy to leave it to other people to care for them, only you know your friend.

I would have loved it if someone had paid a cleaner to do the whole house, or even an hour a week for a few weeks as we attachment parent in our family but the stress of a messy home is awful.
