European football Super Leauge

So today the Guardian and the Daily Mail published the meeting of the American Business man 'Stephen Ross' with Man. United’s Ed Woodward, Arsenal’s Ivan Gazidis, Man City’s Ferran Soriano and Chelsea’s Bruce Buck about different topics involving a potential European super leauge.

The last time there was a talk of a European super leauge was when the G14 (organization based in Zurich; the founders of the original champions league + 4 other clubs) threatened to break away if they did not get compensation for their players playing for their respective countries.

G14= Ajax

Arsenal

Barcelona

Bayer Leverkusen

Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund

Inter Milan

Juventus

Liverpool

Lyon

Manchester United

Marseille

AC Milan

Paris St Germain

Porto

PSV Eindhoven

Real Madrid

Valencia

and the representative club, Royale Charleroi.

I never believe or bother reading the newspaper about sport but with the fact hat neither club nor UEFA (they stated complete opposite) actually denying the the meting, UEFA in 2011 Platini and in 2014 The German head of the budesleauge stating a breakaway leauge should be created.

If the meeting happened then certainly Arsenal and Man united have broken their agreement with FIFA, that none of the G14 teams were to reorganize in such matter again.

So my question is will their be a European super leauge ever happen or will it just be a matter of time.

Yeah you have point, it'l be interesting and there is all political reasons to do with money why clubs would want cross border leauge tournament.

one of the best teams in Europe and always finish last in the league.

But then there would be no relegation potentially.

Football is not a fans sport anymore , Football is all about money. The big clubs know they can still sell tickets at high rate prices and they will fill seats.

However to sell tickets at higher end prices you need a top end product. This european super league is a lust of greed.

An old saying "football without fans is nothing".

The bubble is getting bigger and bigger, It will explode one day and then the clubs will be begging the "normal" fan to come back and finance them again

problem is football in the english prem league no longer need the fans in the stadium the new tv deal means the team who finnish bottom next season will recieve in prize money more than the team who finnish top this season ! there are countless millions of fans world wide who would be quite happy to pay and watch the best european teams weeks after week from the comfort of thier armchair . the fans in the stadium are a superflouse creators of atmosphere and are no longer needed as a revenue stream

We've only been getting football highlights on terestial tv for years now..motd..apart from some cup matches.

I think if the so called, greedy big clubs want a break away league ,let them sod off.Warn them though,if you want to rejoin the domestic league, you start at the very bottom and work you way up.

gettin a good mix of tetestial so people can watch the game but allowing a certain amount of private tv like skye is tge key fora sports progress. As geofry boycot said giving the rights of a sport lock stock and barel with the everything and the family dog can in this modern era crete less enthusiasm for the sport as it is less visable as for the public.

Also tv couverage can in the UK and italy can cause people to not attend the stadiums to watch tge sport this change in attichude has been more prevalent in recent years. although as shown by athletics and NFL internatinal seris in the uk if you can advertise the event well then people will attend and watch tge event.

All hypotheticals, if, buts and maybes tbh. The chances are unlike the Chinese superleauge there will not be a European supper leauge

Leave them to it. All these big clubs who win many trophies won't end up winning anything and will lose their fan base. It can only be a negative for the clubs involved IMO
