Washing and drying duvets in a tumble drier

I was surprised to find that a tenant in one of my shared houses had jammed a duvet into a washing machine in order to wash it , and then did the same with the drier .

I thought that common sense would suggest that a duvet should not be washed in a domestic machine and that jamming duvet into a domestic drier is an ineffective way of drying it as air cannot circulate .

I assume that there is a risk of wrecking the motors . Both machines are brand new ..

How many people wash their duvet every three weeks ?.

Interesting I did some research and it would appear to be acceptable to washing duvets inna machine on certain settings .

I prefer to avoid the risk of wrecking a brand new machine

Of all the crazy subjects I've seen in the Forums, this one is among the best.

I cannot fucking wait to see how long it takes for an argument to start.

Well you can't marmalade a duvet into a washing machine can you.

Original versions of this punchline are available.

"Why won't my toaster work? "

I find that jamming a knife or a fork in there good and hard normally gets them started. Goes without saying really but make sure it's plugged in and switched on, you don't want to look stupid.

I guess that a single duvet would go in some machines but I wouldn't even try to put a double or king size in a washer or dryer. We used to put ours in the bath and tread it like grapes but will have to take them to the launderette now as we only have a shower .

Cat pissed on our duvet last weekend and we had to take it to the laundromat, it was a double 10 tog. Wouldn't go in the washer and it's a big Bosch. D says it wasn't cat piss because it didn't smell like it. Must have been fairy piss then.

FYI
