Ever since I was a child I have been creative drawing writing things like that but lately the creative and imaginative part of my brain seems to be empty and its a little annoying some times I get something but when it comes to making it reality it vanishes.

I write a bit and have this quite often. I've said this before on another thread but I use automatic writing. Don't think about it and just do. I just start writing and see where it takes me. It probably won't fit the original vision you had but it can produce something new. If you have just the seed of an idea it can grow into anything.

Sometimes it is useful to use a game or exercise to spur things on...For songwriting, for instance, if you have occasional trouble thinking of lyrics you can roll two dice and write something very quickly with the number of syllables on the dice...If you do that a good number of times you can then look through and edit the bits you like and add to them...

Are there similar exercises that would help with visual art? Perhaps opening a magazine or newspaper with eyes closed, using the pin tail on donkey method to find a word, then act on that straight away?...perhaps with a quick line drawing or something that hits your imagination from what you read.

Maybe one of the things to remember is that you want to get back into it, rather than thinking that the next thing you do has to be the best thing you have ever done...

Good luck and hope you start getting things going again soon. I am sure you will.
