Some peoples idea of 'ripping apart' a thread is a person merely disagreeing with the OP.

Nothing wrong with friendly constructive debate, problems arise when boorish , blinkered types : despite mounting evidence to the contrary insist on labouring a particular questionable a ne argument or view out of misguided pride or arrogance.

Even then, people can concede a difference and agree to disagree.. Welcome to democracy.. Toots..as the saying goes.

London and France

1.It's an Internet forum; that's what happens.

2. Sometimes someone says something you disagree with and you feel you must respond; that's just " lively debate"

3. Sometimes people say things that are so fucking stupid, you can't help but take the piss.

4. Many times, on the other hand, they get a lot of support

If you're starting a thread on a topic for discussion, then you'll always get replies contrary to your beliefs. Assuming they're not just abusive unfounded trolling comments then you have to accept that.

...sometimes its positive feedback...sometimes it does come across as follow the leader...

So i get where the OP is coming from.

I suppose all the 'usual' formites are all used to one another and bounce off each others comments.

Easy to be ignored in forums anywhere...but also very easy to jump on the bandwagon...

Just take it for what it is...a public forum!!

Yes i agree op there are some who will jump on one word used by an op especially if they arent a regular poster. There are the ones who do it time and again and i doubt its purposeful. Just the way they perceive posts, maybe they meed things to add up completely with their views first.

However id say if you think thats the case dont be afraid to say.

Theres been times where 95% of the thread is op bashing for something they havent even posted about. Green arrow is not always a good thing imho.

But sometimes its just disagreeing and thats all good variety is the spice of life right?

The interesting thing about threads like this is that the highlight how little self awareness some people have as some posters are invariably guilty of what they are criticising others for. I guess a lot of is down to perception

I have "jumped" on an op before, a few times actually, but its just because I have felt so strongly against what the op has posted, I've probably jumped in letting emotion lead my gob, it don't happen often, but when it does, its because I'm a passionate person, and the op has posted something that I consider to be really stupid, that of course is just my opinion, but the "breeding" post springs to mind, and on the other side of the coin, my single parent thread, I caught a lot if flack for that one, but its swings and roundabouts, and its what you get when you have a lit if passionate people in one place, its only being a keyboard warrior if you aren't the same face to face

You guys should take a look at the Ireland room sometime. It's a disaster of late. A newbies nightmare even when asking a simple honest question or even posting a really interesting topic you will be ripped apart. Pity to see so many at it but hopefully it's just a bad patch. Like you guys said, some have little else to be doing

my observations after posting for a fair few years now is it all comes generally down to who the OP is, their interaction with posters & the topic, if it's emotive it will inevitably 'kick off' at some point.

there are people that have strong opinions & that's fine it's when they bang on about it, it can be perceived in another way. others it seem will say black is white just for the sake of it.

it's the ones that nit pick whether it's spelling / grammar or a light hearted story in an attempt to discredit others that really piss me off.

we all have things to say opinions or just random shit like every person some might not mean to come across the way they do but it also depends on who reads it and how they interpret what they have read its just like anything you read the mind perceives it a certain way but you are right

O o O oo

I am not sure the OP is talking about a difference of opinion , more the ripping into posters for their own fun and not stopping when it isn't welcomed by an OP...then complaining when the OP answers back.

Of course it is all dressed up as banter, but unless the OP is in on the banter than it comes across as jumping on/ trying to humiliate.

It does happen even if people deny it does.

To the OP....sometimes it is meant as fun, but if you think it is going pear shaped always report incase a mod hasn't read it and it will be looked at.
