Aporox how much would a mobile tyre fitter/mechanic charge to take 4 wheels off my old vehicle & swap them onto my new car. I'm guessing somebody with a hydraulic jack & electric removal tool would take about an hour. In an ideal would I'd drive both cars to my local garage, but one doesn't run so that's not possible, but that's what mobile guys are for. Anybody any experience? Thanks.

Just swapping wheels? It should take no more than 15 mins and I would charge £20.

Go to a salvage scrap yard and buy the wheel for about a tenner or take a weel at a time and get them to fit new tyre costs for mobile will be 100 plus

Doesn't say anything about tyres mate. Swapping wheels from old car (non runner) to new car. Simples

Thanks yes simples if you have the right tools!! I'm actually wanting the wheels refurbished & I've found a guy locally who will remove them & take them away but his price including removal & refurb is over £100 more than a garage quoted if I drive the car in!!

It will be more if he is refurbing them, a garage will have only quoted for removal and refit surely. If you are wanting them refurbing then pay the money for a professional. I have been a mechanic for 32 years and I wouldn't try to refurbish wheels to a high standard. Specialist job.

A cheap face only refurb will cost you around £30+ per wheel and you'll have to remove them yourself. £100 is a bargain if you ask me. I'd definitely be askingnto see examples of his previous work at that price because it sounds too too to be true.

This guy wants £20 to remove & £20 to take away & bring back plus £50 a wheel Refurb. £260. The guy I bought the car from knows somebody who would do the refurb for £140 he's a professional but not local, so he'd need the wheels or better still for me I would drive the car to him & do a mornings shopping whilst he does them. I'll ring a few mobile fitters tomorrow or maybe a mobile mechanic don't know which is best?

£260 sounds more like it but that would just be for a full refurb, not pratting around taking the wheels off. Find out if he's removing the tyres and if he's using paint or powder coat. If he's not at least taking the tyres off at that price I'd tell him to fuck off.

Well I wasn't planning on having them done whilst driving the car lol!! The guy who's quoted to remove & take away used to do the job as a mobile, he now only works from a premise as he says the modern day materials they use it's a better result done in a controlled environment Neither of the quotes is for powder coating & £140 is a cheap price, it won't be an amazing job but he does come recommended & they will look 100% better than they do at the moment. I know I could spend £100 a wheel but I can't afford it & also don't think an 11 year old car justifies it.

I would be happy to pop over you way and do the swap for you as long as you have a warm strong coffee ready. PM if you want.
