We have them. But only use them when we set the table properly, which is usually only when we have guests.

"Use a table cloth?"

We use a table cloth. Mainly because it stops the parrot eating the table.

You Dont Need to Know, right now

Yes, always a table mat, when eating at the table. OK, when eating HOT food at the table. Did anyone else have those weird rolly-out felt table protectors, to go under a table cloth, as a child?

Ive only got a cheap table, and i use plastic plates (due to ceramic plates being too heavy on my wrists as ive carpel tunnel)

means im not worried about the heat burning a ring on the surface

It depends upon the table and covering. I like things to be in pristine condition, so take care of stuff. If I had a habit of my plate's delights going overboard, I'd relocate my trough from the floor or just get down on my knees.

I was expecting this to be about a lady having some fun from a guy whilst he was under the table.

Yes. They are each a different old British ship scene. And our coasters are old darwings around victorian London.

We have slate place mats & coasters set for the dining table.

A black satin table runner instead of a table cloth.
