dogs!!!!

Just met a 'local' while i was out walking my two lovely, harmless hounds.....she was just explaining that her dog doesn't get on with other dogs either.....like mine.

Right on cue her snarling border collie got out of her house and came charging at us.

I wouldn'tmind....only my dog hasn't got the gist yet that it is the other dog he's supposed to bite.....NOT me!!!!!

I am now sporting another fine set of puncture wounds that will add a set of scars to all the others on my leg

Well train your dog better then,!!!!

They need to be socialised with other animals (Dogs).

we have just had a german shepherd from a dogs home and he was the same,still is a little but 3 weeks training and he's getting there.

we have a staffie, he was from a rescue home and trained to fight as a pup and also abused by his owner, hes as sweet as you could imagine with people, but any other animal must die, we have to be very careful when walking him. weve tryed to socialise him but it didnt work, so we now just avoid other dogs.

the worst thing is when we are walking him in a lead only place, like we always do, and other walkers have their dogs of the lead and it comes to say hello, they always say but my dogs fine, dont they realise ffs

he 7 years olsd....was attacked and nearly killed by another dog when he was about 6 months...has hated them ever since....last resort was doggy shrink when he was 2 ..... we've been told that he will always be this way...just means we have to try and plan our doggy outings a bit more carefully

It can be really hard and very time consuming,to retrain an abused animal,but it is possible with positive reinforcement,but i do agree sometimes it can be better than destroying a good dog by avoiding other animals, it is a shame that other dog lovers can be so bloody stupid as to say well mines ok,then they are first ro report your animal to the police as being a danger,when ever someone ask's me if they can stroke the dog i say no,Then get the horrified look as to why not, or the question does he bite i say " i don't know" well he's your dog they say, and i reply "he is my dog but he may just bite someone he doesn't like,

Dogs don't do rational thought they just react to a situation,they don't get up in the morning and decide todays the day i'm gonna bite,

But what they do need is a stable enviroment where they know who is pack leader, all dogs need to know there place in the pack,there is no such thing a abad dog in my view there are only bad owners,dogs are not little children, to be dressed up silly costumes or pampered and treated like a child.

I will stop now as i could go on for ever pmsl.
