When I was younger I would not of been seen dead in one, I would buy new shirts and trousers in high street shops when I could, try to have a new top for a night out but then one day I popped in and from then I was hooked, I hunt for books in them and causal lounging clothes, anyone else a fan of rummaging for a amazing bargain, I got a quiksilver winter coat in one near me for £8.00 one like it in the local surf shop was over £100, just about to go rummaging now for some smart trousers for golf ????

I got lots of baby clothes when my son was first born, most were brand new for all the time babys are in them, when he was too big i donated them back to the charity shop

I love charity shops most of my stuff comes from them ,you get really good bargains and some great retro stuff from some ,plus you are helping charities it's a win win xxx

love them, donate loads of unwanted clothes to my local one and the DVD,s are amazingly cheap, the local high street near me must have at least 6 or 7, its great rooting about in them for a couple of hours

I buy loads of books for my kids in charity shops when I get the chance, you often get unopened or barely used puzzles and games in them too. Never bought clothes though.

I'm not a rummager and hate looking through hundreds of items just in case there's something there I may want. I don't like Primark for the same reason

I'm the charity shop queen. I even go to different towns for the day now just to go to the charity shops.

Going to a wedding end of may and now got three dresses to chose from.

I think every thing I own apart from my best winter coat and a couple of dresses and underwear is from the charity shop. Oh and my boots are not charity shop.

The other day I sorted out and had 49 dresses hung up that's not counting the ones folded in the draw.

I got a jaguar dress for 5.99/still on their website for £160.00 and a phase right dress the other day for £10. Once I've finished with it all it goes back to the charity shop again

Plymouth and Newcastle (sometimes)

Part of our holiday routine anywhere in the UK is a day of charity shops and the museum. Our 10 year old goes straight to the reference books and computer games and we head for the clothes. We also donate all our stuff back to charity shops if there's any life left in things and gift aid everything

I have a phobia of charity shops, I think it's because when I was a kid I always had scruffy hand me downs, we was right tramps, I guess that just stuck in my head, I have never put my kids in second hand cloths, I have three daughters and they didn't even have each other's hand me downs, not because I am a snob, I'm not I'm far from it, I guess the memories of my younger years have affected the way I feel now, I didn't want my kids to go to school and have the piss taken out of them like I did so they have always had new and when my eldest out grew her stuff I threw it away

Bought an umbrella in on a few weeks ago (brand new) from Cancer Research - it cost my a fiver, I put it up outside the shop as it was pouring down and I had walked no more than 20 meters when the wind caught it, turning it inside out and breaking many of the metal stays - I shoved it in a bin and vowed never to buy a cheap brolly again - but I was happy about 'donating'£5 to charity.

I visit them and donate all my stuff to local hospice shops. Not had crazy Picasso paintings finds for a quid - and would donate a large sum of money if I found something valuable.

I never buy new books i always have a mouch in the charity shop and then donate them bqck. Donate a lot more than i buy but once got the most beautiful glass cookie jar

Well I have just rummaged through 8 charity shops and came out with 3 lee child books I was missing and a horrible pair of Rose red trousers that will be perfect for the golf course, only one I won't go in is oxfam, I fully support what they do but if you go in there it's almost always new stuff they sell and I can't see that as a bargain

Im always sending stuff to charity shop. Infact iv got a huge bag ready to go... but the thought of buying from a charity shop makes me feel dirty. I couldnt wear something that someone else has worn. Theres plenty of other cheap shops

Have you never put on a guys shirt or t shirt after being with him, just to pop to the kitchen or bathroom

Never tried on a mates top or something because you like how it looks, the stuff in the shops is washed or you wash it your self

In off for a rummage tomorrow, most towns and cities have a charity shop central so that's where I'm headed but looking for very specific vintage/antique style clothes for my current craft project.

I once bought a gold diamond solitare engagement ring for £5 and had it valued at over £300 and have had a fair bit of Whitefriars glass as well as solid bronze candle sticks and tons of English pewter.

Id happily wear my partners top because im the one whos washed it and i know hes not dirty. No i wouldnt try on a friends clothes as they are all smaller then me.

Used to be shop manager for a charity shop, not all of them are bad smell wise! Still go in from time to time. ..furnished most of house out when I separated from the shop....but my best bargains are my watch. .paid £3 fouw out later worth 300 and my Paul Smith suit bnwt 25!!! Both boughw after stopped working there I may add

My daughter and I love both

We've bagged some incredible bargains at charity shops and also give things to them we no longer use or need.

I like the fact that we're recycling and supporting good causes.

It's all about the furniture for me, I'll buy stuff from the charity shop and upscale it, that wall unit that I bought for £10 might have looked dated in its shit brown varnish, but a quick white wash and it looks awesome in my kitchen, if you have a little vision, and a but if time, you can really win in the charity shops, its the best source for the unusual, and the retro, there's one by where I live and they even sell everything for a quid, so if your into sewing and need a project, that's the place lol

I love charity shops.... Buy stuff for my kids and especially for books etc... Brought some amazing dresses. I used to worry about the stigma. As although I was the oldest, I got charity shop and hand me down from family and people took the mickey.

However nowadays it seems trendy. I have had some great furniture too x

Update today I'm got a principles waterfall Cardigan and a Hobbs top. For £6.50 there was a phase eight dress but I didn't like it and yesterday I got a woolly cag hat with ears on it

I cant say that the charity shops i go in have a 'smell', maybe back in the days of the 80's things may have been unfresh.

Saying that, i have found my daughter some amazibg clothes that I personally would not have been able to buy/afford.

Quite a few named brands, and toys, and scarves etc.

I love a good bargain, especially when the labels are still on them with the real price.

My daughter also loves it, just as much as she likes a car boot sale.

I have a lot of very expensive clothes that came from charity shops for a couple of quid. I have a very soft fitted leather jacket that was a fiver brand new, a suede jacket was a quid and a suede coat with tags still on was £25. I've got tops that retail at over £100 and dresses that I could never afford at full price. I also have a vintage Burberry mac that cost 10p at a jumble sale. On Friday I picked up a brand new Per Una top that's £32.99 in the shop for £3:50. I love charity shops

I love them, mainly because you never know just what you will find.

I look at the fabric and buttons and I have bought some brilliant items that I can cut up and sew. I particularly like gowns or bridesmaid dresses as the amount of material plus net underskirts etc makes a good amount of fabric to fashion into something else.

I have had the odd bargain clothes wise too but it's not that often I drop lucky, mores the pity. I do like secondhand furniture shops. I would always buy a good quality wooden table than a cheap Mdf one in Argos. I have had great bargains of mirrors etc too. I buy lots of books from charity shops.
