Seams quite common with users in the forum..

Just a general post to share experiences and the symptoms you've had.

Hereabouts

I was diagnosed about 18 months ago. I have no symptoms that I know of (except being fat and my hair falling out... But I never put those together with a thyroid problem) and wasn't even aware it was a big thing.

Do thyroid problems just develop? Can it be fixed? Or is it a lifelong thing?

I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid after going to the docs with a lump in my neck.

My levels are currently borderline (losing weight helped tip it back in the right direction) so I'm not on medication, it's just being monitored. No idea if I've any symptoms as a result of it, I've always been quite a sleepy person anyway, and I'm overweight and struggle to lose weight for other reasons!

I don't know how they develop. I believe it can't be fixed but controlled with medication. And yes I believe it is a life long thing. That's just going on my wife's condition she's had it for 30+ years and it's not stopped her one bit from doing what she wants, drives me up the wall with the energy she has from the pills lol

Ah I was right then I thought hair loss was thyroid in other thread. Yes I had underactive thyroid since my 40's I take 200mcg daily. Does cause weight problems though..

I have other autoimmune conditions also, lichen sclerosis (a miserable condition) psoriasis and eczema have developed recently fortunately just mild.

I was allowed to nap in the afternoon at school it was that bad. I began treatment of 75 mcg..

Mine really is a very rare case as i am now on 1000mg daily. Its now at the point where i no longer know what 'normal' is.. been a long time since ive had a lot of energy.

Ive gained masses of weight due to poor metabolism, i have Carpel Tunnel syndrome (numbness in hands/fingers), my hairs dry and falling out, i have a piss poor memory, consitipation, dry skin, kidney disease, a fatty liver,

Anxiety, depression, it gave me sleep apnea and lots of other things

I have an under active thyroid have done for years, however as it is rare in men and was not diagnosed for years.

I was allways very tired overweight moody and had terrible breathing problems.

It is now under control through medication but I was sick for so many years before being diagnosed.

Chams or Socials

I was diagnosed at 24/25 when pregnant for 1st time. My dad, his brother, my mum (recently diagnosed) & my sister all have it & it looks like my youngest does too after 3 years of being fobbed off by our hospital.

I have a under active thyroid too, which is controlled much as it can be by medication.

I have pins and needles in my hands and also suffer onycholisis of my nails, which means the nail lifts from the nail bed and splits. Due to my job and constantly washing my hands I have gel nails to protect the nail bed.

I also suffer side affects from thyroxine all the time.

And after all of that you still look fantastic in your photos.

Hoope if not cure all of your problems they at least contain them.

That goes to everyone else too
