And Orion looking fab to the South too ..

Yeah saw it earlier, gorgeous. Not quite full moon now though.

Betulgeuse (Orion, top left slightly red) is a red giant and about to go supernova, I'd love to be around to watch!

Yep it could happen tomorrow, it could happen in a thousand years but I'm really hoping it's something that I can experience in my lifetime as it will light up the night sky!

Orion will look very different once that happens

I know - my phone has loads of aborted moon pics on it that just look like a bright blob! I need a proper camera for stargazing pics.. It's on my next Christmas list!

Kinky that's the injustice of it!!! In the words of the great Patrick Moore "we just don't know"!!

Could happen tonight or another 500 years. It may have already happened, but it's that far from us, the light hasn't reached us yet.

ISS will move slowly across the sky, very faint, then very bright as the sun reflects off it, then back to faint again.

To see. The ISS it is best within a couple of hours of sunrise or sunset when it is passing over. Otherwise it is in the Earths shadow. I saw it one day last week about 6.15 or so.

There is a section on NASAs webpages that tracks it. You put in where you are on the Earth and it tells you what days/times it should be visible.

If you have simple binoculars etc you can see the basic shape of it...the solar panel arrays etc.
