"Turn it into a positive. There are way worse things that could happen than them turning your job on its head and giving you a whole new one. You're looking at it the wrong way. Embrace it... you never know, it might be better than your old job and you can thank your lucky stars that in this climate, you've got a job! " my thoughts exactly

"Guess you could be correct, 24 years in the same post, retraining as a medicines dispenser is better than no job at all. Just hate to think I am being cooped up inside, working shoulder to shoulder with a roomful of women. Thats not meant to be sexist, its just the way the pharmacy is configured. Guys work in supply and distribution, gals work in dispensary." i suppose you could always resign and allow someone else the opportunity of what is i would guess a reasonably well paid job.............and the added bonus of working in a room full of women

"I moved to Cornwall in 1995 with my job, 3yrs later I was made redundant. I've been made redundant another 3 times since then. Just a month or so ago, at Christmas my current employer closed our workshop and I was expecting to walk again. They are keeping me on as a rep. I don't like the job, but I've got to earn a living. Life's tough sometimes " I wuv u jack ..... xxxxx

Just hate to think I am being cooped up inside, working shoulder to shoulder with a roomful of women. Thats not meant to be sexist, its just the way the pharmacy is configured. Guys work in supply and distribution, gals work in dispensary." To be honest, I feel your pain. I'm in a room full of women and I'd rather be sat in a cupboard somewhere instead. I'd get way more done without hearing about the ins and outs of corrie/emmerdale/eastenders etc. and then we have the children/husbands/family chat that whilst it's the done thing to do the small talk with people you work with, it's really not my bag. Then we have the constant singing along to the radio... even the adverts warrant a tune from one of them and quite frankly, I have days when I'd like to throw the radio out of the window, closely followed by the tuneless wonder. However, I manage to contain my thoughts and potter along each day, quietly surfing the net and watching TV while I work and try my best to shut them out. So there you have it... not everyone has the perfect job. You never know... maybe you'll love this one and be good at it. Try not to dwell on the cons before you've discovered the pros.

Were you expecting a medal maybe? Or possibly a round of applause? Or maybe a patronising, "Well Done You", with a corresponding pat on the head

Most working for essentially the govt have in the past had pretty secure jobs but its not the case any more. I feel a little for everyone who gets pushed out or sideways but unfortunately its the way things are going at the moment.
