"65"! For such a large purchase, wouldn't it be best to see it in a showroom to see the quality? " Indeed I will be going to a well known high street specialist to purchase the unit. I would never buy any AV gear without a demo first, as I nearly brought an LCD projector a while ago but under demo conditions decided on a DLP one instead. I just thought the tv was really cheap for what's built in and screen size etc. Have read a few reviews on amazon of ones that have gone belly up after 2 years but this has a 6yr warranty included for free so seems a safe bet provided the picture is up to scratch. (wont be using the internal speakers). The specs look good but I'm guessing with a cheaper brand the inbuilt menus etc will be naff.

"Hisense exactly the same as Samsung different badge." Great, the last Samsung I had was quite good. I just couldn't believe how cheap the unit was for the size and spec. Really missing my old house as I had a dedicated cinema with 165" projector screen bit can't fit it in new lounge. I'll pop down on the weekend and abuse the credit card I think!

"Take a trip to your nearest Richer Sounds. They seem to be a lot cheaper than anywhere else, the staff seem to know what they're talking about(unlike most places like Currys etc)and you can ask for demonstrations." That's where I always go and where it is available for £1100 with 6 yr warranty. Can't fault them for service, knowledge and range.

"Just to advise - do some of your own research ahead of time here. I am only a little interested in tech, but from what I hear there is no point buying anything with 3D technology. You will be wasting your money as it is getting phased out! There is also little point buying anything with smart tech IMO. 3D is apparently too expensive to make in mass production film, so film makers are going down the 4k route or higher resolution imaging. It is probably wiser you to invest your money into a TV that has great picture clarity than a TV that has all the bells and whistles but features you wont be able to use in a few years. As far as smart tech. With this type of TV you probably cant find one without. But there are plenty of micro pc's (6"x6") that you can plug into their hdmi /usb ports. Buy one for £200 and you have full web browsing instead of the limited apps that come with a smart TV - the processor will also be a lot slower than that in a micro pc. Hook up a wireless keyboard with integrated mouse and you have total choice. Split screens tech is also a bit of a fad too. Looks great but built for gamers, though again in the real world do you want a tv or a gamer monitor. Try and but the best screen resolution you can for the money you're putting down." Hi thanks for your response. Yes I agree 3d is a waste of time, I occasionally use it for zombies but wouldn't look for it on a tv it just happens to have it. 4k is a must for me for gaming so that's a tick. Regarding a PC, I have a custom built liquid cooled HTPC with 12tb of storage etc so that's covered. Dual screens don't really interest me, too much GPU power needed to do dual 4k and I rarely get chance to play anything for long. So yes I totally agree I just need a monitor style screen (I don't use a tv tuner as I use now tv/downloaded tv shows) but the quality has to be good. This particular tv from richer sounds has backlit led tech which should be better than my old edge lit one. All the smart/3d/ tv tuner/inbuilt speaker stuff will never be used but the quality of the display will be critical in my decision.

"Ok so I'm in the market for a new large screen TV, since I moved I can't easily get the projector up in the lounge. I'm looking at a 65" 4k 3d smart tv with a 6 year warranty at £1100. This seems to cheap to me, and I don't need the 3D or smart features as I run a home theatre PC. Is it a case of too good to be true, or as some reviews I have read state that they are a huge brand in America and china. I think they may also make sharp tv's which is what I had before which was very good for the price. Any advice from anyone who owns one gladly received." Research, research and research. Look for impartial reviews of the item you're interested in, trustpilot is usually a good place to start; there are however many similar sites . Something can seem compelling on paper but the actuality is usually far from. Also the other old adage : if something seems to good to be true, it is! Good luck.

Yes I will do a lot of research and I have a good eye for quality on Av gear. A free 6yr warranty helps too!

"just had a quick google around - it seems a very cheap price for a 65" 4k spec tv. Lots of others with a smaller frame though they all seem to rocket at 65"" It is very cheap, hence my concerns about quality. I'm happy to spend another £500 to get a good piece of kit bit I recon its got to be worth a look at this price, leaves me more for my atmos reciever
