How do you forget you're going on holiday?!

I'm counting down the sleeps at least a month before I go away. I mentally pack weeks before and then have my bag out tripping over it for about a fortnight before.

Incidentally, there was a letter in Private Eye a few years back from an Englishman who was taking a flight from Oz to New Zealand I think.

They're doing the passport shuffles, security shakedown &c and the woman in front has her nail scissors taken, much to her annoyance.

The board the plane.

Our traveller is sat down and *sniff* something smells odd... like *sniff* petrol?

He attracts the attention of one of the air cabin crew who agrees and a search of the area turns up a CHAINSAW in one of the overhead lockers, on it's side leaking fuel.

The owner identified himself and when asked what in God's name he was doing with a chainsaw on board replied that he handed it in at security who told him that chain saws weren't on their list of objects to confiscate so the let him on.

Yeah it's brilliant. It means I don't have to do one thing at a time. I'm a multi-tasker. It's the best piece of holiday advice I've ever had... no idea why I didn't think of that before.

(I'm not entirely sure where your mind went with it though!)
