yes your gp. Sorry to sound glib but without knowing you, your medical history or having any medical expertise I can't help you.

Yes. It is a GP situation. They could help you to not have a heart attack.

Presumably, you are monitoring your pressure? Otherwise you would not know.

Seek medical advice. 111 if it is dangerous.

Your general health is more important than an erection. See your GP.

See your GP;

Don't muck about getting advice on here:

And since you are on meds DO NOT try Viagra without the GP ( or any other " erection meds"). It's fucking dangerous .

Some meds will affect it; some won't; your GP can find one that works;

I am on hypertensive medication for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; ( Ramipril and bisoprolol). I can assure you it does not affect erection whatsoever.

That's what I'm on. They doubled my dose but I decided to go back down on the Ramipril. Made me so foggy and sleepy.

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

My husband is on medication for blood pressure and one of the common side effects is erectile dysfunction - it only affected him for a couple of weeks but it significantly dented his libido. Luckily once he got used to the meds it settled down so it is very likely you are suffering a similar side effect. As others have said visit your GP or read the advice note that comes inside your meds to see if it is a common side effect and go from there

It's a curious thing that chaps with high blood pressure get hard-on problems as you would think it to be the other way round.

I have low blood pressure, low pulse rate and my body temp is normally about 1* lower than average.

Yet I get a stiffie a cat couldn't scratch.

yes the first readings to high, the second reading looks ok, I use medication and have my own monitor but as people say here keep in touch with your GP. your blood pressure will fluctuate but make sure you keep yer eye on the `over` part and keep it below 80 mine is usually 70,s the 136 is good even into the 140,s but again keep it below 150 usually the first reading is higher than the second reading and sometimes I may even take a third reading and still get it lower, It has a special name where the first reading is commonly higher(`white ?) as your body needs to relax prior to the reading usually a minute will suffice to be long enough.

How do you know your blood pressure is high? If your GP measured it, presumably he'd have prescribed medication?

If you've home tested your BP, get to see your GP asap.

Knowing friends who have had stupidly high blood pressure, I will only reiterate what others have said, go see your GP. This is something you want to be talking through with and taking advice from a qualified medical professional.

Because an erection is not actually about blood pressure; it's caused by the blood vessels in the penis dilating and filling; but the veins at the exit compressing, and restricting the blood coming out; thus causing the swelling/erection.

The reason that blood pressure medication *sometimes* stops erections is that some stop ( or reduce) the constriction ( in some people)

It's a bit more complicated than that in reality, but that's the gist.
