Am I the only guy to almost cry at the passing of the Land Rover? The last Defender came off the production line recently and I'm really sad.

nope. Driven the Evoque, don't like it. Prefer an old Rangie..need a slushbox, so Landy's are..well..less of an option.

I had an ex army lightweight years ago. God it was fun but keeping it running was a nightmare. I'd hate to run the fucker now. I'm sure it was something like 17 to the gallon

Playing with my 110 on Sunday and have a 101 ambulance as a project.

The end of production is sad but to stay solvent they need the american market which don't like defenders

Thats a shame. I do need (honestly) a new front air suspension bag. I usually go to one in town but he is getting quite expensive

I wonder if the British Army replacing the Landie with Jackal has been a contributing factor?

Not a difficult job, most normal garages should do it at a reasonable price.

Had one quote £250 from a garage in small heath. Thought that a tad expensive especially when he wrote down the bag was only £70 & would take half hour to fit

There is a "concept Defender"* on the top floor of the Jaguar Experience at Gaydon. Wonder if the Defender replacement will look similar to this and the Defender it replaces?

* My description!

They haven't. There are still thousands of Wolves and RWMIKs in the fleet. They are, however, a lot more selective about what they use them for.

Just East of Wakefield

I love them too, as evidenced by part of my screen-name

I had 7 in total

Series 3 88" (diesel)

Series 3 Light-Weight

90 TD

110TDi

90 V8-CSW (genuine factory build)

Discovery 300Tdi

Defender 110CSW Td5

I still miss not having an early 2-door Range Rover, a 101FC, or a Series 1

over priced outdated crap, used to have them here but bought a hilux in 79 and wouldnt have a landy near the place, uncomfortable, twice the cost to buy and bloody unreliable, the reason the yanks wont buy them is they dont meet their safety standards. They typify all thats bad in british industry, build something that is world class and then sit back and never update it for 60 years

Yet a good 1997 Defender will sell for $150,000 in the USA...

Devastated at it!

Luckily I've got a small collection going on haha ??

1989 90 that's been modded for everyday use, 300tdi and r380 instead of the old 19j

1996 discovery one 300tdi, every day runner till the 90 is finished

1979 series 3 88 just started a total restoration

And always looking to add more haha
