Mine was a lovely 3 litre ford granada it was mint condition and was chauffeur driven from new before i owned it.

Superb condition and great to drive i have had a look on the dvla webb site and sadly after 2004 it was taken off i presume scrapped or exported.

What was your cherished car you sold and regretted it

Had around 20 company cars over my working life, they were all fine, never got attached to any of them, they were just work tools. Best part was no servicing or maintenance and always a courtesy car if it needed to go in.

ex skip brown factory spec group four lotus sunbeam rally car absolute beast in full light weight tarmac spec .2.4 slant four twin 49 webbers 5 speed gearbox limited slip diff all lines inside fly off hydaulic handbreak 220brake . was just pure fun on the twistey lanes of the pennines nothing touched it shame it only did 8 to the gallon at best and a full engine rebuild was £3-5k a throw so reluctantly parted with it after a year

Renault 5 gt turbo, it was shocking how much of the inner wheel arches I cut away to fit the 15" alloys under it, the thing was a beast, even though it was cadbury purple lol

Car come and go like the wind they're just tools to me but bikes that's a different story and the 1 I most regret letting go was a 1997 honda vfr750fv. It was 2 months old when I bought it and I sold it in 2010. Still feels like I sold 1 of my kids

I hated the day I got rid of my 99 R6.

The car I regretted get rid of would be my first, a 73 1300 VW Beetle. It was not the best looking car, but when you turned the ignition key it started first time every time, all the newer so called better cars had trouble starting in winter.

2.4cc and twin '49s' that's a new cc and carb size, unless you mean 48. Never spotted or heard of that spec in all the old fella's years of rallying one.

Who done the 2.4 engine on it ?

it was a typo should of read twin 48s teach me not to proof read was a guy at skip browns who had built it for the previous owner quoted £5k for a rebuild cheapest quote was £3k this was in 1986

I had a Sierra sapphire 2.0l ghia when I was about 20, I loved that car and was gutted when it had to go. I also had a Granada 2.8i ghia x later on, that was a beast. In fact, I've had the full range of Fords when I was younger, I started on a fiesta 1.3 super sport, then escort 1.6 ghia, then Orion 1.6 ghia, then the Sierra and then the Granada. Most of them would be worth a few bob now.

1.6 si fiesta in dark metallic blue . 10yrs of motoring and all it cost me was the usual tyres , servicing and exhaust . Px it for a 172 clio sport.

I traded my gti in against my current car, an audi S4. On paper the audi is the much better car but the vw was like a go cart, a real hoot to drive. I can feel a little tear forming in the corner of my eye.....

I've regretted getting rid of two. Firstly my mk.2 Escort Mexico as it would be worth a fortune nowadays and secondly my Toyota Aristo,3.0ltr twin turbo luxo-barge that was the most comfortable car I've ever driven.

First car was a 306 turbo diesel...in British racing green....sold it for seed money to start property portfolio business deposit!

Loved my baby...at 2,500 revs the turbo just kicked in!

Few years ago had a Bentley GTC....sexy car but drew far too much attention....then went to a V8 vantage.....9 months later that went....my god did that drink!

Currently rocking a very sensible yet torquey MK7 Golf GTD....reliable, sleek and lovely when you initiate sports mode!

Yes I see card like children....they are just easier to trade

We had 2 beetles - the 2nd was a 1970 J reg we re-built but had to get rid for something more practical when eldest child came along. His initials match the plate

Then we had a 1976 type 2 campervan - she is 2 days older than me & I miss her loads during the summer. The ex got custody in the divorce & she lives in a barn all alone & unloved because he hasn't got the time to fix her up. She was too heavy for me to drive

IN the 70's had an Austin 3 litre saloon - was massive inside and drove like a limo, it was automatic and if driven carefully did 18 mpg. Got married so it had to go, few yrs later found another one that was a manual and did an economical 23 mpg - they were brilliant cars and would love another. BMC, in their wisdom, replaced them with the awfull princess wedge - what a great move.

Mr had a Astra 2.0 16V GSi, he adored it, no other car will ever match that one for him. 3rd child and loss of a business meant he had to get rid of it, it's since been seen on the back of a trailer written off

Actually, sold my first car to my brother, a really nice condition Micra, air con and allsorts which is a bit rare for that one and some other sought-after bits that Micra enthusiasts (they exist!) go for. It was super reliable, petrol lasted the month sometimes, nice to drive. I cared for it, freshened it up a bit, kept it looking new. Sold it to my brother when I got aforementioned MR2.

I regret selling it to him because he treats it like shit and I have to see it now and then. It's filthy, two of the hubcaps have fell off, he revs the nuts off it and does handbrake turns (when there's nobody around).

Too hard to say as so many of my car hold memory's. My first car f reg fiesta. Which I spent a lot of love doing up. Then my Mazda 323 gti. Which was fast. Then my civic coupe which was my longest owned car. Then my Honda S2000. Then when I shaved some money I bought a 2012 Bmw 320 d. Cheapest car I ever had for running costs. Now I love my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Top spec.

Had a Nissan Cherry turbo that had been chipped and had a bigger Webber turbo fitted by the previous owner. It weighed about the same as a shopping trolley but pushed something close to 220BHP. It was the closest thing to instant suicide ever.

Put your foot down and it threw you onto the back seat. The craziest rust bucket ever..... Blew the turbo up doing 160 down the m57 near seem at 3am one morning.

Sad to say I scrapped it!

I've had quite a few so called performance cars, but my all time favorite was my Peugeot 306 2.0HDI. It was a brilliant little car - really cumfy to drive, went like stink, handled like it was on rails and I had it for 12 years without a single glitch ever.
