Way things are going, can count on one hand the number of programs I actually watch live now days, normally it's on catch-up services or some for of VOD.

Personally I find it better this way as I can fit the programs into my schedule not the other way around

I was amazed at the gall of the BBC to consider asking pensioners for voluntary contributions.

They're both on Fox as well, and the ad breaks are long enough to have a wee, make a cuppa and wash the car

To be fair it was a joke for the government to ask them to fund part of the welfare bill in the first place

If the government want to cut it to help the deficit they should've just stopped or means tested it

As the repeat of eastenders has moved to Watch I suspect some of be other programs like family guy and American dad will probably end up there. In the meantime I'll enjoy not being distracted by them and getting to bed earlier!

In fairness, if the perception of a pensioner is one living off state pension only, I would agree, but I suspect that there are plenty of pensioners that have better income than a lot of working people.

Radio 6 has over 2 million listeners - the highest listenership of any digital only UK radio station.

BBC 3 used to get over 9 million viewers a week.

Exactly i think pensioners over 75 should pay a tv licence..They watch the same content as everyone else plus they watch the tv more as they have spare time on their hands

Hence they watch more hours of tv..

Also it's not fair on every other household they have to pay for a tv licence

Either abolish the tv licence altogether or if not over 75 s have to pay a tv licence like everyone else. to make it fair

At the time they were brought in free to licenses were in effect welfare, funded by the government as a form of recognition that the state pension wasn't that high

However since 2010 with the current government recognising that the pensioners vote a lot and usually vote conservative they've been rewarded extensively compared to the working age population so this form of welfare isn't needed and should be abolished in my view, of course purely because they vote conservative is exactly why it won't be abolished though!

The elderly do get rewarded to keep them sweet it's a deal breaker to keep them voting conservative hence they get free tv licence s etc

An a more aging population it's a deal breaker
