There's nothing quote like burning 5 minutes on YouTube with the "worst aiditions" of x factor and other such shows.

However I've started noticing that a high proportion of the ones who get really angry are women. Are there just more women singers or is there something deeper going on here?

its all a set up you know they have had three auditions before they get anywhere near the judges who are all tipped off before hand

What I find more interesting is how genuinely surprised some of them are to find out that they can't sing.

It's scary how people can go through life so distorted from reality...

(Massive generalisation alert Maybe people they know are nicer to the women who can't sing and humour their misguided ambitions, whereas the bloke's friends tell them to shut the fuck up and stop thinking they're going to be a singer.

Maybe, it's the best explanation anyone has put forward so far

Maybe men just tell women they are good singers what they want to hear to improve their chance of sex. Like a vicious feedback loop that ends on national TV.

I dont get why the parents lie to them though. I guess they are so obsessed with their little bundle of joy that they can't look at it rationally...

Yes that's the bit that confuses me. Is it that they actually believe they can sing? Because I don't understand how anyone could allow their child to go and embarrass themself like that otherwise. And if they do think they sound good, what kind of weird hypnosis is that?

As parents they probably do think their kids are good singers though, possibly even proud of them.

I know i think my kids are the most gorgeous, intelligent blah blah you get what i mean? But they aren't really, to me they are though.

And men tend to be easily pleased, if you like singing then they'll tell you you're good at it coz that makes you happy an they probably don't think it's that bad or they take the piss usually.

Well there is a legitimate biological process whereby a mother won't find the crying from her baby to be half as annoying as anyone else will. This is what leads to plane loads of people scowling at a confused woman who doesn't get what all the fuss is about.

Maybe it's a variation of that and they genuinely think the child "isn't that bad" and should "give it a go"?

I only watch it to see people who think they are great get turned down. The crazy lady who Louie Walsh lobbed water over is a great example.

It's funny, you see people get turned down on the apprentice or dragons den and they are like "well I learnt a lot by taking part" or "I got some really good advice even though I got turned down" but on x factor then tend to go ballistic and insist that they definately can sign and everyone loves them.
