I don't bother trying anymore. As I've got older I please myself first and they can either like it or lump it.

So its my big 50 in april and everybody wants me to have a party , but some carnt make a certain date and the same with other friends so some sulking going on , dont think ill bloody bother

Go with what suits you. True friends will make the effort and if it clashes with something they really can't change, you can do a separate meal or similar with them. It's your birthday not theirs!
