"Have bought a roll of losing paper and currently mind mapping all over the front room walls!! Discovering my inner Tony Hart as I go along " That's my technique. My housemates came home one night to find the front room walls covered in post it notes of various colours.

"Nothing is going in!!!! " are you sure? I often think that but it is surprising what does go in (and stays there) even before you have thought about retaining it for revision purposes!! failing all else have you tried mind maps...??

"I don't need to be thinking about revision for at least another 3 months... and if I don't know it by then I may as well give up now " One should always revise. I have my daughter revise at least once a week for her GCSEs and they are next year for her.
