"Don't make a scene, shake it off, get out of there as soon as possible. Go home and slate them to every person that will listen. Or if I'm really mad and want to show my anger I'll place the money on the counter and not in their hands, that'll show em!" haha, This! And a bit of muttering under my breath with a red face

"Bad service that is... Are you terribly British about it, sweep it under the carpet and end up apologising to whoever gave it..... Or do you call them to account as soon as it is possible to do so? Have to say I'm in the latter camp... What about you? " A free pudding usually helps

"I definitely say something. I've been told it's "very American of me." If I'm paying for something, then I want the level of service that comes with that. Simple. I'm not rude about it, but I'm very direct. -Courtney " When I was in NYC I thought about the level of customer service I received. In every single place I visited it made me think that the UK could learn a lot about customer service. A lot. I speak up if something is wrong but having worked in a restaurant, there's a good way and a bad way to do that. Just because something is wrong, there's no need not to be polite about it. Especially given its probably not a lot to do with the person who is actually serving you. Being nice to people costs nothing and I've come across so many rude people when it's completely unnecessary.
