This has happened to me . I agreed to meet a man on a certain day. Later he had put up a meet in a place where i didnt live yet he had agreed to meet me.am genuine and would have met him.

Sorry to hear that OP, sadly it happens. People have cancelled on me then clearly had better alternative offers but it's the nature of the site I'm afraid.

Unfortunately this can be a very selfish pastime, nobody is obligated to meet anyone and a lot of people will seek to maximise their chances and take alternative options.

You'd hope most people would have the decency to give you plenty of notice and have the balls to tell you directly though, wouldn't you? x

I had this happen once .... He cancelled on me using his brother as an excuse then goes and posts a verification ...

Ummm.... Thanks I guess??? I wasn't too heart broken though I looked at the woman and thought ha!!! No offence to her but it was my opinion

I met a man ( who i had already met before ) ,on the way to his i looked at my fab profile to update my status as in i got a meet today mmmmm that sort of thing and spotted a meet request put up by him, i was in a cab on the way to his , asked him about it n got oh i put one up every day, fair enough but didnt make me feel brilliant about myself hehe not exactly a confidence boost , im no diva but if im down the road from u in a cab plz do not put a meet up( thinking about it i know it

could be for the evening and i was there fir the day but still could have made that clear on the meet ) , didnt feel exactly fantastic that day health wise either so prob massivley oversensitive to his male thinking lol

I've had this happen... and I tend to cancel. It just makes me feel a little iffy to have someone arrange to meet me and be looking for others at the same time (we were supposed to be meeting at 7pm and the meet said 'evening').

In no way am I trying to justify what these muppets have done (I've had similar) but maybe they don't have much free time and thought that if you didn't turn up then maybe they would have other options???

My free time is limited and I've had people let me down at the last min and then you've wasted that time.

I've felt like doing it but I haven't as I have a brain and know how I would feel if I saw that!

It's happened to me several times - arranged to meet, other party cancelled with an excuse only to then post up a verification from a meet.

Being superseded for someone else, being lied to for selfish reasons - it's never a great feeling to be on the receiving end.

Sadly this is how some people like to play the game and it's not against the rules. It's just a bit morally repugnant.

If someone told me they were cancelling on meet because they had another offer I would oh great but at least I would respect them for being honest

I won't lie and say I am not talking to multiple people at one, I guess in some form most of us do.

I think they key is communication. A female had cancelled on me but I did say ok, do you mind if I advertise she said no

Maybe he wasn't ever going to meet anyway , he was one of the fantasists ! Like others said - sounds like a lucky escape anyway. Just very annoying at the time.

Just to add the flip side to this, i could post a meet weeks in advance, however the meet calendar icon does not show until the date of that meet set. Could it not be a possibility that this could have happened, that after making arrangements with you, a previously written meet post that he may have forgotten about generated a meet icon?

Of course the other side is he could have just decided you were not suitable/too far etc and posted a meet to keep options open.

He may also be greedy and fancied meeting a few people that day.

Lots of reasons, however if reason was he had change of mind meeting you, he should have done the right thing and said

OP did you ask the man what the reason was behind the meet post or did you just make a judgement that he no longer wished to meet you?

Sorry, but I wouldn't "double dip" or "keep my options open"

If I've agreed to meet someone then I've made a contract between the both of us, and I'd hope that we'd both stick to it

Op, from the posts you put you do seem to have more than your fair share of bad luck.

Have you looked at how you arrange meets, do you get to know them, chat on the phone or do a social.

If something isn't working look at ways that might improve things.
