We are having an argument. I thought it might be interesting to get the view of the wider audience on this.

Cass thinks that Curvy is just a euphemism for Fat, and feels that its a shame some on here describe themselves as 'curvy' when it has such negative connotations.

I feel the opposite. I think that Curvy is a positive term, I like curvy girls and feel that it describes a particular body SHAPE rather than a body SIZE.

Some women who describe themselves as curvy are clearly just fat while some are curvy

I think for a lot of big women calling themselves curvy instead of large just makes them feel better but not all, some curvy women are curvy

To me curvy is a shape. I'm fat, but because fat is seen as an insult you get the usual euphemisms of bbw and curvy. To me curvy transcends all sizes, you can be slim and curvy and fat and curvy.

For me personallt curvy is slim with shape, I would never class myself as curvy as I feel I'm to big but I have seen loads of women bigger than me who have curvy on their profile, its very subjective

We describe Mrs N as curvy. She has a small waist, shapely hips and bum, thighs too, she's neither athletic or skinny or overweight and you can definetly see curves which we feel is key. The same in our opinion can be said if you're upto a stone or so overweight and the curves are still prominent even if a little out of proportion. Just our take on it.

To me curvy is a shape. I was curvy when I was fat. I'm still curvy now I'm podgy. I'll still be curvy if I'm ever slim. My ratio of hips to waist to boobs hasn't changed; just the proportions as a whole. If anyone isn't sure what I mean when I say I'm curvy then they only have to look at my pics and decide for themselves if my definition matches with theirs since the term is so open to interpretation.

In my experience some confident larger women would possibly describe themselves as curvy.

Some larger women who perhaps lack confidence or low self esteem would possibly describe themselves as fat.

There's so many descriptions now bbw, curvy, fuller figured, voluptuous I'm lost at times.

I will say I've never liked the word fat and it's associated with negativity, imo.

I think body shape shouldn't be a tick box on here and peoples honesty to post pictures would allow people to have their own opinions.

From a man's point of view I have described myself as athletic because I am. But I am a large athlete so could be large. Even my BMI says I'm obese.

In my own little world I'm fabulous. But you didn't hear that.

I see it as a shape - mainly hourglass, so a significantly smaller waist than your bust and hips. So a size 8 can be curvy, as can a size 18.

However people on here get incredibly cunty about the term, so I changed to fabulous instead.

I'm curvy curvy curvy!!! apart from my teeth I don't have a straight line any where. Do I class myself as fat no. Do I class myself as a bbw no. I'm a woman and proud I have curves for men to touch hold and enjoy and I stand tall and proud when I'm out as I'm confident in myself. I have a complete hour glass figure and I love it I'm proud to be a curvy woman

In that case, fuck it, I'm fabulous instead of curvy. Because that's not flattering either? The terms on here are so arbitrary it doesn't really matter what people describe themselves as. I'd rather they could choose their own words. Or, heaven formed, describe themselves in their profile or have some pictures on display.

Mrs classes herself as curvy since her hips got wider after children. She is happy though and I think it's a great shape.

In that sense I class it as a shape more than size. You could have a really slim girl with a naturally big bum and boobs and she could still be curvy. One of my exes was 5ft tall, size 6 but she had a lovely peachy bum and had lovely curves to her when she was naked!

Marylin Monroe was 36,26,36.. An hourglass figure.

You are curvy with an hourglass figure because you have curves..... You can have curves and be obese... At my height and weight I'm obese but I still have an hourglass figure... Goes in and out in the right places!

I did the same and someone who met me recently said I was doing myself an injustice and said I was more curvy than ample. I've left it as ample.

I'm a size 12/14 and so stuck myself down as average. I realise that the UK average is a 16 but I wasn't sure I fitted in any other bracket. For me curvy is hourglass and I think I lost a bit too much bum when I lost weight.

No idea what that refers to as I haven't read through. I'd suggest the issue of the misuse of the term on here isn't the fault of comments like mine - it's the misuse of the term!

BBW is similarly misused. So is athletic etc. etc.

It's the implied "you're all fat bastards" that lies behind it. I actually disagree anyway - if you look at the use of curvy as a hashtag on Instagram for example you'll see plenty of plus size women using the description.

So curvy can't incorporate other shapes? Hour glass is already a shape description. I think this is where i got the hump with a similar discussion before and why i don't use curvy.

Its one of the topics no one will ever agree on. If you have pics describe yourself however you want for me. Lets be honest most of us look at pics first anyway x

It's all subjective, one person's idea of curvy is not another's so describe yourself as you want to. On here it sits inbetween Average & Large so based on that its heading towards the fuller figure description.

Not my take on it but maybe it offers another explainaton why it's perceived differently.

You CAN be both fat and curvy. I have a waist which goes in and mahoosive tits. That equals curves. I also carry too much weight.

I remember reading about curvy on the Web. Curvy can be )( or ) ( it's a shape not a size. I once put ample on my body shape as I'm more than enough.I didn't associate it with anything negative. Just put what you want, it appears that some women are more harsh with others womens labels.

I'm both curvy and Rubin's like and I actually put my size and A few REAL pics and say I'm full and round in places and it all jiggles .... .... I agree u can be curved at any size such as size 10 or size 20 ...

I think curvy is whatever someone wants it to be, the same way as a good meal is whatever someone thinks it is. I'd describe myself as curvy.

I'm a size ten with small boobs and I consider myself curvy. For me curvy is about the waist to hips ratio but everyone has their own definition.

Cass thinks that Curvy is just a euphemism for Fat, and feels that its a shame some on here describe themselves as 'curvy' when it has such negative connotations.

I feel the opposite. I think that Curvy is a positive term, I like curvy girls and feel that it describes a particular body SHAPE rather than a body SIZE.

Couldn't agree more.

It IS a SHAPE, rather than a SIZE.

You can get girls who have a petite frame (say, a size 8), and they're slim AND very curvy with it.
