tv set as advertising hoarding

BBC aside..the amount of advertising saturating every other channel now is pernicious..years ago it was tolerable...now its adverts for 6 minutes once EVERY 11 minutes..watching a movie is practically futile..I may just turn the AV channel permanently on for discs..

a tv set in a home is merely an advertising hoarding..discuss..

(and no i don't spend all day watching tv..lol.)

Plymouth and Newcastle (sometimes)

Watch What we want when it's on any of the BBC channels (shame 3's going online) and record everything with ads in.

Watch stuff on demand or record and fast forward through the ads.

Thought i wud just say here that what i was originally trying to say is that a tv set is now an advertising hoarding..i wasn't asking how people necessarily circumnavigate that fact. Obviously anyone sane would find some way..i love the mute button for instance..

first advert that came on some woman was talking about how her wrinkles make her look sad. i just laughed (and then went wrinkly). happy faces have wrinkles. tuned the rest of the ads out.

Central

And some people would like the BBC to become more like the commercial channels!

I'm so happy to pay my license fee for BBC tv etc, to keep commercials off. I don't pay for any other TV services via cable etc.

Well, sadly all tv in this country will eventually look like channel 5 or 5 USA. Absolute rubbish tv..id say about 10 years once the licence is abolished and the "quality" commercial channels no longer have to try and resemble bbc2...
