It starts on ch5 9pm and it is about three unemployed families are given a cash lump sum of £26,000 in return for signing off.

Would be interesting to see what they would do, will you also watch it?

I hope it's not more demonising of the poor that channel 5 does as standard. I may take a look, depending upon what is going on.

I hope that they get fantastic financial advice too.

It's a programme on Channel 5, with benefits in the title.

You know what it's going to be. Hoping makes no difference.

I just hope that they have not just set these people up to fail!

They do have a finantial adviver to guid them.

At first it looks like they are just wasting the momeny but then again why should they not have a few treats at first ? after all ssome of them have been living in shite hand to mouth for quite a long itme.

I will be interested to see which ones make a real go of it.

I started out self employed with £2000 in my pocket from redundancy and touch wood 3 years later still going ok so I do hope at least a couple of famillies make it work.

Benefits are really hard to claim (perhaps a different thread) so i hope having not seen it that people who indeed get very little income from benefits are not villified. It amused me that liverpool were putting their tickets up to £77 many people will only get £73 to live on, i know rent may be paid as well so dont jump on me please, not feeling good today.

My viewing time of Channel 5 has been reduced to the occasional Wright stuff programme. (That's if I'm in).

I find the poor shaming of Channel 5 appalling. They should be ashamed of themselves.

On the subject of the programme in particular, I too hope that they do get good financial advice.

So they get a wedge of our cash and lets say (as we mustn't stereotype) they blow it on holidays, TVs, video games, booze, cars blah blah .. and 3 months later they are skint. Then what. We can't legally say 'tough' so they get back on the gravy train ...

Cue the Liberals telling me off ....

I'd say it was cheap TV for channel 5 to make and that the company should stand to lose it all.

That business is a repugnant organization. The poor shaming is a clear indication of their absence of morals. Unfit to hold a media license imo.

It's another example of how you can take a horse to water , but you can't make it drink it .

The people on the show have no money because they have no idea how to use it .

They are clearly a few sandwiches short of a picnic , and being given a lump sum of money to invest in business ideas is like giving a 5 year old child money to invest on the stock market . Doomed to fail , and car crash tv .... But still quite entertaining

Why don't we just put them all in a pit and make them fight each other for our "entertainment"?

I'm not too sure thats's right though! I do know some people who most everyone would lable as thick as two short planks and have no chance of ever making it.

Give them the start and yes they may have stumbled along for a bit but have made it there in the end.

I'm not sayig that this is the case but the most hopeless casses have a way of coming through.

Life is a minefield sometimes and even the best can get into trouble.

buy a man a meal and he will eat for that day but give him the leg up he needs e.c.t I know I nicked the saying but sometimes thats all it take's

I will watch it through before discarding them.

I hate these programs they are there to make people on benefits look like the stereotype the media wants to portray them as.

It's as bad as the sexual deviants ch4 likes vanilla people to think us swingers/doggers/bdsm are
