" to offset the costs against ticket revenue is absurd " I agree, the clubs are receiving massive amounts of income from TV deals and sponsorship but very few are passing it on to the fans - there was some movement last year when clubs started to pay for away travel or concessions on away tickets, but is it far enough? Clubs dont exist without the fans. If prices were reduced, fans may be more inclined to spend more money at the game, on food, merchandise, experiences etc - the clubs would still be able to offset some of the loss if they reduced prices. As Bayern Munich do, their prices are extremely low for a season ticket, and they explain the impact on their revenue as negligible compared to negotiations on players contracts - they seem to put the fans first. It only takes one club to take the lead in England and the rest will follow. Yes, I appreciate clubs have shareholders to satisfy, but fans should come first. | |||
