So I've decided to trim the number of people I know on FB- what criteria do people use ?

Can you demote people to acquaintances?

I'm thinking simply of sweep and destroy style and get rid of anyone I've not chatted to.

It's personal for everyone I guess. I don't friend people unless they're actually people I speak and engage with regularly.

I think many were added when I joined and didn't realise they were still on, or others in life who have moved on

I use the same principles as when I'm de cluttering my house, if I haven't used/interacted with it/them for 6 months get rid, if you get what I mean.

I only have one friend on my face book that I've never met, I decided to add as many people with my name as possible, I got rid of all but one, because he's really funny, and we have been on line friends for 6 years now, and hopefully I'm going out to visit him in Colorado next year.

I run a strict 100 friend policy. Any new friend requests can only be granted if I remove an existing one first.

I've demoted/unfriended/blocked a few family members, unfortunately you cant choose these fuckers but Facebook lets you sort of get round that

Does that count?

i have facebook purely to keep up to date with people - saves lots of phone calls and texts to ask how johnnys first day at school was or how billys op went - you get the idea - i post very rarely on my page just stuff like my kids graduations etc
