"Because it would do jeremy kyle out of a job that's the best reason i've heard for using them " The polygraph lie detector can be be fooled as it only detects your stress levels during your answers. Compulsive liars can beat them as they believe what they are saying so they dont get stressed, newer style detectors are not proven yet

"i wonder if anyone has any theories as to why they are not used in court cases? other than they are not 100% accurate because nor are witnesses or dna." Its something to do with privacy and also the fact they are only 96% right and so could lead to expensive retrials.

"Does this not apply to witness statements also? I agree that an accomplished liar or someone who truly believes what they are saying would 'fool' a lie detector but surely there as 'accurate' as witness statements? Lie detector tests have been used in courts in this country to support police testimony that the accused is a liar but there has never been a case where the accused has 'passed' a lie detector and this evidence then been allowed in court to support their case. Definite case of double standards. Rant over.lol" There is a reluctance to use evidence because of the reliably issue and because retrials are so expensive its an avenue currently avoided at the moment.
