Just received my budget for a new company car... looking at the mazda 2 or 3 or a golf blue motion..any experts with advice?

Hang fire on the vw at the min there a lot of reprogramming going off you get the emissions and economy down the downside is you could lose 15 bhp which isnt good mazda3 is a good bet

I always find the Mazda feels very plastic on the interior, would normally say VW but what else have they done wrong.

The Mazda will never go wrong, its just a dull drive and the interiors are shocking.

The Golf really isn't what they're cracked up to be, the quality of the build just isn't what it was 20yrs ago plus with the reprogrammed ECU's they're going to be strangled.

If it was your car I would say get the golf and have it remapped after it has be returned. The Mazda shares a lot of its design with ford which can't be bad.

Take a trip to your local Hyundai dealer.

I've just bought an i40.

Massive spec as standard, 5 year warranty, high build quality.

Their range has cars similar to mazda and vw.

From past experience, vw after sales was poor.

I've got an Astra company car and it's excellent and very well spec'd up although word is we're changing to the Toyota auris this year ....... Going hybrid!

Golf every time - there's a reason TopGear mag recommend them as the answer to pretty much every question!

Build quality is excellent (not sure where the previous reply about bad quality comes from, VAG have some of the best build quality around these days).

Mazdas are nice to drive, but the golf will be the all round nicer car.

It comes from fixing so many of them!

Its a common misconception that VAG cars are well built, they were 20yrs ago without a shadow of doubt but nowadays not so much.

Ask for mileage allowance and use your own car . Get a modern classic

build quality will not be better on the golf. The VW may use better quality plastics but they can't get close to the Japanese for build quality. Why does everybody seem to swallow this guff.

Because a good reputation will stick no matter how bad things deteriorate. Much like a bad one will stick despite huge improvements. The motoring media is partly to blame for this.

Go for an Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The company will pay the repair bills, so what's not to like?

Thanks everyone for your comments and views.. the reason I'm looking at the mazda mainly is because the salesman is a mate of mine.. and will definitely get me value for the £££'s

Why not check out your benefit in kind liability before making a decision. The golf is a nice car with strong build quality but there are lots of strong alternatives. Toyota make some great cars as do Honda.

Just realised yours will be the new shape.

Mine was a 12 reg so was old shape

Check the boot space tho

Mine used to be slow as buggery going up hills too cos all the weight was at the back

It lasted 12 months before I traded it in !

What a load of BS....... How many 10yr old mazdas do you see with 250k mileage On the clock, good bodywork and in full working order, I'd be surprised if you could find one!

There is a reason the golf has such good residual value, it's because it's pretty much bullet proof!

Out of your two choices the golf would be better despite VWs recent emmisions issues, dont get me wrong the mazda 3 is a good car but they suffer theyre own issues most commonley rust.

If you can see past the badge though how about the skoda fabia? Its the same basics as the golf but youll get alot more for your money than you will in a golf
