The land of grey peas and bacon

Watching a programme about the chief executive and there is something really dodgy about her. I know that some programmes are edited but something just doesn't ring right when the charity collapsed.

I was expecting her to turn round and say the kids company paid for her to go to university and now she is in a good job.... hence the nice flat. Did i miss hear that she started getting support at 21 years old?

I didn't hear it I understand she came from Jamaica as an asylum seeker and kids company supported her and put her in that flat...I didn't catch how old she was

Just rewound. "she was 21 when she arrived at kid's company". How is a 21 year old classed as a kid?

It seemed massively over-staffed and their offices too deluxe - thus a charity with very high overheads. They probably did some great work.

She's presumably fully mentally healthy. But her ability to twist things and influence others was was a bit suspect.

I'd have felt great if she'd paid for the 19-21 year old whose family had been killed abroad, out of her own pocket, but it seemed wrong for that charity to pay for her, when it was for children.

I am involved with one now 30 years I've been In it and repeated new management have destroyed it and it's breaking my heart

It goes to prove a point that "administration" costs behind charities is a massive black hole, the percentage of your generous donation that actually goes into the pocket of the intended is minuscule.

Some people get a nice living off the backs of "charity"
