Yep - totally agree. Though its timing that makes it difficult - you're free and they're not and vice Versa.

Maybe it's the weekday/schoolnight thing?

We never do them, just weekends. Plus we only do parties and clubs preferring the smorgasbord to the blind-date scenario. Works for us anyway as can be seen.
