its so annoying too see the grama police on here some off us didn't have a chance for education I can only speak for my self but yea cant spell very well or do maths that good but im sure I can do a lot more than most who are good at the above gggrrrrrrrrrrr

I don't think it's an issue if people can understand what's written.

However when it's clearly incoherent due to poor grammar, then messages can be taken out of context, hence it's importance.

If you feel you missed out on education, then why not take adult learning courses? With adagogy you benefit from a class eager to learn creating a better environment. Good luck.

Ps any mistakes here are the result of typing on a phone!

Spelling and grammar isn't necessarily a sign of intelligence, it indicates skills in the written word.

Whilst I agree we are here for sex rather than English lessons, in order for sex to take place it is necessary for there to be attraction.

Attraction covers many things including physical attributes as well as other attributes such as personality and how somebody conducts themselves.

You will therefore find, not unreasonably, that some people will be put off a person is unable to spell.

I suspect this is not going to go down well with some people but that is my genuine view.

A sargeant in the army doesn't always (mainly because they used to get the corporals (me!) to write everything out

It doesn't mean one is better than the other, just have different skill sets.

What I dislike is poor grammar being used as an instrument to put others down. That always shows to me the one taking the higher grammar ground does not have anything else worth saying.

Discrete is an actual word, they just don't know there are 2 spellings with 2 different meanings.

Accommodate is often spelt incorrectly too, as is professional.

So use it as a filter and just don't meet any of those grammar police types. Personally written communication is important to me, so I can be put off by text speak, poor spelling and poor grammar. That doesn't mean I think they're a lesser person in any way, just that I think we're less likely to get on.

Good for you. Coincidentally, I am also fully capable of stripping and rebuilding any combustion engine, usually big diesels, as well as complex hydraulic systems and transmissions.

I don't however, see this skill as being mutually exclusive, and am also capable of using my devices spellchecker etc.

But those who do struggle don't deserve to have the piss taken. Particularly, those on here who don't have English as a first language don't deserve to be ridiculed.

I am afraid that I am a spelling nazi, at least to a degree. I tend to disregard messages and profiles which contain bad spelling. Spell checkers typically only spot spelling errors, and not grammatical or syntax errors. Just because things are spelled correctly, it doesn't mean the sentence makes sense.

Spelling has nothing to do with clubs. It is to do with how people present themselves *on here*. Some people have very poor English skills. That puts some other people off them, for various reasons that have been explained in this thread.

Technically anyone can have sex with anyone else. Do you think everyone should be willing to meet anyone and everyone just because they are capable of sex? We all have different criteria. For some, on here, communication in good English is important. For some it isn't.

Find the people that suit you, quit worrying about it. And quit calling people who do have good English skills stuck-up. We worked for those skills the same way that you worked for the skills you have.

It is a lot easier to improve spelling and grammar than how you look.

People judge people on how they look because they may or may not want to fuck them .

When men ask for profile advice and they have spelling / grammar mistakes in their profile I point it out. They don't have to change anything if they don't want to but I always think 'why put up barriers to meets?' because for some, a poorly presented profile is a barrier. I think allowances are generally made for smart phone fumble fingers and dyslexia and not English as a first language etc.

I think what some people are trying to saying is...yes I'm poor at spelling,but I can strip a engine down and rebuild it again.Yes it's a skill,and it comes easy to them,as does spelling and grammar to others.The difference is when they hand the keys back to the person,they don't take the piss out of them for not being able to repair their car.At the end of the day,anyone can learn how to rebuild a engine.

as they can . But it takes years of experience and some degree of education to be able to measure within a thousand of an inch and check . Also takes some degree of education to be able to check electrical and electronic circiuts . Takes skill to be able to hear a muktitude of different noises produced by an entire vehicle not just its engine and road noises that the untrained ear cannot work out . . Those untrained ears would likely describe a scrape as a squeal and a rummble as a rore . The noises are equally different thus have different meanings .

So ia am sorry if i am repeating things that have been said earlier !

I am dyslexic and i wasn't tested until my mid thirties, when I started a new job. Put it down to a victim of the 1970's crap education system. I am not bitter but I am resentful. I left school decided on a career choice and did night school for 5 years.

I now have a set of support strategies for dealing with written work.

A good spell and grammar check program on computers at home and work.

Several friends and family who will proof read important documents for me.

Obviously iIcant use them for my profile or posts on here

My dyslexia means I am very good at thinking out side of the box, problem solving and practical physical skill's, that my non dyslexic colleges either miss or do not recognise until they have to do them and struggle with , they then have to ask me in to do them.

I also have to be extra careful and precise writing my daily reports.

O/P could have worded his post better considering the topic but if he struggles with grammar and spelling. He could also struggle with formulating a post that can not be taken out of context. The written word can be very difficult to deal with an just because certain people have not mastered it , does not mean that they are stupid , thick or un-educated. It just means they are different and might have skills that are useful in other ways.
