Ohhh- a real gent. Very saddened by this. Saw the thread earlier but didn't open it in case it was him being accused of something horrid. Then my fwb messaged me about it.

Genuinely saddened as I grew up watching Wogan, Blankety Blank and then later listening to him on R2.

Rest in Peace Terry xx

"Never understood why people get all emotional at a celebrity passing away.Sad for his family though."
it depends, the reason why I got emotional today was because he was like a comfortable pair of slippers in my life, always been around since I was a kid. You never heard anything bad about him, he was a good entertainer. He is what I call one of the old brigade a constant fixture.

It also confirms my mortality that all the people that have all been around are slowly going.

He never had a massive impact on my life in anyway just comfortable. Like a favoirite uncle

I think Terry Wogan was a part of growing up for many in my age group.

Radio 2, Eurovision, his chat show (remember Oliver Reed ), Blankety Blank and of course, Children in Need.

Clever, witty, considerate, kind, warm, fun.

There are a few 'celebrities' these days that could talk a leaf or two out of his book.

However,to present Children in Need, and get paid at all when all around were doing it for fuck all,was morally contemptible...
