"Open water, by the end of it I wanted to be eaten by a shark too, mist pointless boring film ever made"

Excellent film.

Fear, hope, fight , despondency, lonliness, silence, lack of stimulation, eventual acceptance...

Incredibly powerful.

No special effects needed.

If it's explosion, fifty deaths and fast cars you want then it's not for you.

Based on reality and the experiments conducted by Joseph Mengele during WW2

The actress in Boxing Helena was Cherilyn Fenn of Twin Peaks fame

I deliberately look for headfuck films. Grew up watching Cronenberg and Lynch. One that had the potential to be brilliant but lost the plot was Southland Tales. All star cast, upbeat and wacky. Just nonsense though.

Yup! 50 Shades was originally written as a weird Twilight fan-fic (so change the names of the characters to whatever they were in Twilight, and you have the original draft).

Part of what explains why it's so hilariously badly written, but that's a whole other story

As for weird films... Anything by Terry Gilliam, hah. Or any of the other Monty Python crew

Requiem for a dream - weird drug movie I wanted to shut off but couldn't. Had me on the couch at 2am with my knees to my chest holding my breath.

Meet the hollowheads ( Life on the edge)- crazy sci-if movie.everything is delivered thru tubes. Was strange and not great acting , weirdly addictive. Juliette Lewis is in it, love her.

Symbol.

Japanese guy wakes up in a locked room, and there are only cherub penises on the walls... each one he presses drops something into the room, and he has to work out how to use the item/s to escape. oh and the film has sections of luchadore scenes too.

Odd, but pretty entertaining

The director also did R100, a film where the guy enters into a BDSM contract for a year, that he is not allowed to cancel.

"a great oddity is Primer.. a time travelling conundrum..think I need to watch it again, its so good!

Speaking of weird time travel films, here are another two- Time Crimes and Safety Not Guaranteed. Both good but the second one has a slightly disappointing ending. "

Time crimes was very good.

A film that completely seems to divide people is under the skin. The woman I watched it with wandered off halfway through. Even though it had a naked Scarlett Johansson! I am a big fan of the book anyway.

I really like that film!!

You do remind me of another Italian film though - La Quattro Volte. Pretty much silent, a large part of the film focuses on a young goat tied up in a yard in the empty streets of a small village. Oddness itself, but strangely alluring."

I have found similar films Interesting from the 60,s black and white movies sub titles, many starting after 11 pm Finishing in the early hours, I used to fall a sleep some times before they Finished or sitting there like a zombie..

Anything by Jan Svankmajer.

Notably Alice (1988) - his take on Alice in Wonderland. So freaking weird.

But there's loads of his short stuff on youtube. So surreal, and not really all horror, but some very very weird and disturbing imagery.

"12 monkies."

Have you ever seen the film 12 Monkeys is based on? La Jetee? Also very odd, one of my favourite films of all time.

It's almost fully created using still photographs (bar one set of a few frames), with a voiceover, and the story is similar to 12 Monkeys, but the tone is much more old-school sci-fi, and melancholically romantic. Absolutely gorgeous!

That's right.. Him and Jennifer Grey, somewhere near the Donegal/ l/derry border.

Recall reading about that, the person his vehicle collided with died on impact, not sure what the coroners verdict was regarding culpability.

"Open water, by the end of it I wanted to be eaten by a shark too, mist pointless boring film ever made

Excellent film.

Fear, hope, fight , despondency, lonliness, silence, lack of stimulation, eventual acceptance...

Incredibly powerful.

No special effects needed.

If it's explosion, fifty deaths and fast cars you want then it's not for you."

Detour for explosions and gun fights that are ridiculously badly done, the plot is poor and full of holes and special effects badly done.

Barely a film to hold together some action sequences.

Look out for van that explodes in huge fireball when it collides at walking pace, the radio controlled, clockwork and stick of dynamite bomb, the visibly taped post that gets knocked over and the pyro for bullet strike that miss fires and fizzles for a second.

A film so bad it is good. The only weird thing is why it was ever released in such a poor state.

"I deliberately look for headfuck films. Grew up watching Cronenberg and Lynch. One that had the potential to be brilliant but lost the plot was Southland Tales. All star cast, upbeat and wacky. Just nonsense though. "

You might like prospero's books, a Peter Greenaway film. Before multiple split screens became popular this visual feast is awash with simultaneous multiple images, takes a lot to follow plot.

How about Delicatessen?

A romance set in post apocalyptic France, with a clown, multiple failed suicide attempts and strong canibalistic theme.
