So what regional colloquialisms do you use ?

Would you object to being called by one of these ?

Are they just old fashioned, or quaint ?

I hate babes, babe or baby.. Unless it's a boyfriend... . Won't talk to anyone that calls me hun makes me cringe... My friends are banned from using it.. It is verging on a phobia

I cannot stand being called love or dear except by my parents.

I find it patronising.

"I don't like babes or Hun."

I don't,but someone is calling me honey at the moment and I'm just debating how I feel about it. Call me whatever once I've met you,but am I just being a little uptight I wonder...

Chick & babe for my bestie because it's our 'thing'.

My dad calls me pet which I like, someone else did it on here once though & it wasn't right!

I recall leaving a certain nightclub in Blackpool and the large burly bouncer on the door asked me 'Would you like me to get a cab for you, Kitten'.

I thought it was amusing as I'm not exactly diminutive but I suppose with the size and build of him everyone seems 'kitten' size and he would probably get away with calling anyone he likes 'kitten'.

hun is discribed in dictionary as derogaty word for german, or in scotland a hun is a scumbag protestant who hates catholics, i like it when im called cock, i pretend to mishear and say you had what in your mouth, people who use these terms of endearment maybe addressing a wife beater, paedo, etc if the person is a complete stranger

Alright, my lover?

What's wrong, babber?

Cheer up, numbnuts. Only people I really like get that one.

That kind of thing.

If you don't know someone well enough then just double up on the meaning instead. Look, see? Cheers, ta.

I'm not offended by any terms of endearment, because I'm not a cunt. One of my younger regular partners calls me dear, which makes me feel old,but I'm not offended. Because I'm not one of those easily offended women.

I think the use of the term colloquialisms has confused some of the contributors a little
