"How do you politely alert someone to their obnoxious, catty forum demeanour without breaking rules? Seems.. Tricky. Lol."

"And just what is wrong with being catty " Haha. Some seem prickly to the point of want to bait arguments.. Personally find that Bizzare and jarring. Nothing wrong with the occasional spot of Playful cattiness though.. . Xx.

"How do you politely alert someone to their obnoxious, catty forum demeanour without breaking rules? Seems.. Tricky. Lol." I don't think you can. Or should. I know that the few people who tend to make comments that rub me up the wrong way on here won't have the same effect on others. I have absolutely no right to attempt to inform them of my feelings towards them since I am interpreting words on an Internet screen and jumping to all sorts of conclusions, with little to no back story. Maybe they're having a shit time and unloading on here where it's relatively anonymous? I'm sure everyone has their reasons and I may judge them for their behaviour but that is my own issue and not theirs. To tell them what I think privately would be awfully arrogant, as if my opinion mattered more than anyone else's. However, if it's someone you consider a friend in and you think they're shooting themselves in the foot then that's an entirely different scenario.

"Message them and tell them nicely, it's better and takes an adult approach. " And it probably won't change a thing anyway. Besides, it's very easy to misunderstand things said on here. What one person interprets as catty, particularly when they're new, isn't necessarily catty at all. I've seen the OP wade in and attack someone on here in the bitchiest way, accusing them of being nasty when they'd said nothing at all wrong and hadn't been nasty in the slightest. The OP, to me, has more than a hint of irony to it.

"Best to be catty about them being catty. " And raise the bar. It's essential to be more catty

"I once asked a Forumite if they had a problem with me...they always quoted my posts and argued with them so often to the point I felt I was being bullied! They hadn't realised and after a brief conversation thanked me as it made them more aware of how their posts might come across. " Was it me? I remember something similar but can't remember who it was. If I offend people I hope they'd tell me.
