Wow, your doing well, I couldn't live without sugar. What about some diabetic chocolate or sugar free sweets, they may help the cravings

Well done guys, we did a couple of days last year with no sugar, felt like crap but gave us the boost (no pun intended) we needed.

How long are you hoping for it to last?

Hi, I tried the no sugar and like the op felt like crap.

Boss and office worker actually asked if I was ill I looked that bad.

First thing I did after that was a Mars Bar and a bottle of Irn-Bru, never felt better. Jim

I find avoiding sugar very tricky, as it seems to be in everything.

...Up on the Downs

It's like a drug addiction, but after the first couple of weeks it's easier, I've given up most carbs for years at a time. I use Atkins bars and sugar free chocolate for moments of desperation though!

was chatting to my daughter about what we were going to give up for lent - sugar was mentioned - we got quite deep into the issue- did we include the artificial sugars added into stuff - if we did there wouldnt be much left to have - its hidden in so many things

- think im going to give up coffee instead

That's exactly what I'm giving up for lent coffee plus it's terrible with no sugar lol. Yeah sugar is in nearly everything. It's alot more effort cooking from fresh from.scratch but even kids r feeling the benefits even though they did have much sugar anyway.. xx

Hi. I gave up sugary foods. As a treat I have dates, their so sweet, on a water biscuit with low fat cottage cheese.

Tastes gorgeous, beats chocolate. I shit you not.

Now I've quit smoking and I'm in the process of sorting my stomach out processed sugar is next on my hit list. I'm expecting it to be the hardest one of all.

Stick with it. The first week is the worst. It gets easier after that. After 3 or 4 weeks you'll still get cravings but you'll feel better so they'll be easier to deal with.

I did 3 to 4 days last week and struggled by the end of it, for a fix. I eat too much sugar regularly.

I disagree with this. Often giving up (virtually) all sugar is the only way to control cravings for it. Fructose, (the sugar in fruit), behaves just like glucose, ("regular" sugar), in the body, (in fact in some ways fructose is worse).

3-4 days isn't long enough to adjust to it. It takes 2 weeks or so, in my experience, to start feeling good from it.

Ah, so you've not given up sugar, just added sugar?

That will make it more difficult.
