Google to pay tax.

What do you think of the news that google have avoided to pay tax? I think it is good they have caught them, cos they should pay it like everyone else does.

I can understand why they want to avoid it, it's excellent business sense. They should really pay more than a few million though, it's absurd to think they got away with it.

If fat cat corporations such as google and starbucks were to pay their fair share in taxes, we'd have the best Health Service, Education and Defence in the world.

Same goes for the non doms and mega rich who pay less than 2% of their earnings in income tax

Hi shag....if they paid it "like everyone else" the current rate of corporation tax is 21%.

Google turnover on UK business is 4.3 billion last year.

They hide their profit by shunting it through Eire and the Carribean but it is estimated to be at least 400 million per year. Now do the maths and tell me 130million in tax is OK for the last ten years?

Lots... Most.. Big corporations use the loop hole.... Go to Amsterdam set up a sister company.. Then go the Netherlands and set up there.. And direct the profits through these... Avoiding British tax. (simplified explanation)

Other bigger ones like Facebook and Google use other further afield countries too

Over 40,000 have 'companies' in one office building....

It's wrong and shouldn't be allowed

Hi and yes, yeah that would be the way as they hide their moneys in other countries, that sure is a big profit as well, they did as well mention they could pay it of in one go, but instead to do it over a period of time.

A simple transaction tax would solve the matter. Every transaction conducted in the UK should be taxed at source, it could be implemented in place of corporation tax, and would remove the off shore tax havens at a stroke.

Somme use the loophole that they are putting their profits back into the company, i.e. building more buildings and creating more jobs as a result, therefore posting less profits than actually received into bank. Sometimes this results as a negative balance on their annual statements. They are effectively treating themselves as being cash poor and asset rich.

Even though we all though they are making billions in profits, they will only be taxed on that what they have actually left over after expenses.

They're paying a derisory amount of tax.

The tv show on the Cayman islands was interesting the other day. As was the Fair Tax town one, midweek.

If we keep sending our business to these companies we will increasingly kill off our country.

Use a different search engine, avoid Amazon, buy from stores unlike Tesco etc, who funnel their profits to tax havens.
