Brighton - even Hove!

Do these have any effect? Has anyone been sued by someone for using some profile text or photos? Would you take someone to court?

Sydney university wrote a report on my swinging activities, published my real name and address, all because I didn't have the legal warning.

I literally have hundreds of Australians visiting my house asking to see the RAW file images of my cock pics, apparently it's a pilgrimage of sorts for undergrads.

Anyway, to answer your question. They appear to have no effect at all. No idea if anyone has been used but I bet it would make front page news. I wouldn't take someone to court I don't have a suitable outfit to make an appropriate, dramatic splash when I take the stand.

Take the Fabswinger's advice on the matter:

The "legal disclaimer" is pointless nonsense and all does is take up extra space on our servers. Please remove it if you have it on your profile. If you're worried about privacy please set your account to be hidden from non-registered users on your privacy page (this also hides it from search engines but may take a week or two to drop out of search) and remove the notice (and encourage others to do likewise).

Common sense advice would be NOT to put any information on your profile (here, or on any such site) that could identify you or that you don't want to become public! So for your own benefit, don't post phone numbers, real names or email / instant message addresses on your profile that people might see or "Google".

Some people may put non-identifying pics on their public profile but keep face pics private or for friends, for example.

"It is against the law to post, or repost.. Even re-tweet a naked picture without consent.

That maybe so but once you upload pic/profile content/forum posts to most sites it becomes property of the site. Some sites will allow you to retain ownership but most state in their T&C's that content of the website is theirs that includes what you choose to place on their site. The only sure way to guarantee you keep ownership of your stuff and display it on the internet is to host it on your own website.

So the issue of taking legal action would depend on if still retained Copyright

There are lots with the warning on their profiles and actually state that discretion is very important! So, they are going to take someone to court?

Yes they can, they'll just have your watermark on

Someone may well grab the photo and repost it elsewhere. If they're in, say, Russia, I doubt any legal action would get it removed.

I'm shocked you're asking Steve.

In all likelihood, anything on a public site profile is about as fair game for anything that a viewer fancies.

Posts are a waste of Fab server space and bandwidth, costing money that could be spent on site improvements.

"Do these have any effect? Has anyone been sued by someone for using some profile text or photos? Would you take someone to court? "

It is a good as a filter for people who don't think about what they write.

There is an element of bind sheeplike faith that if someone else has posted the warning then it must have some use. Sadly that is as bollocks an idea as the warning itself.

Using a US law which does not exist to threaten an Australian educational institute for using images on a UK server... Doesn't really add up.

For us, someone actually bothering to put that warning on their profile says that they either have no idea what they are doing or they are that they are trying to scare people off. I would say that it doesn't bode well for intelligence!

It's like a mate of mine who posts every conspiracy theory there is on Facebook. He has just shared a "news" story that Turkey shot down two American forces helicopters! They actually went down off Hawaii! Nice guy, but he would not be someone I would spend any quality time with.

But that is just my view!

1: Why single out Sydney University?

2: Anyone legitimately doing research on a swinger site would anonymise the data they collect. Any responsible university or institution would come down hard on anyone using identifiable information in research and they have no need to identify anyone.

3: Since they're anonymising your data (even if they do care about your 5 dick pics and "here for fun, will fill in later" profile) there's nothing stopping them from ignoring the fake 'warning' in it.

4: Which just leaves the people who repost pictures onto porn sites, in which case, they'll take it whether there's a warning or not (especially when it only tells Sydney University not to, FFS)

5: probably tons of other reasons I can't be bothered to go into. Basically it's a waste of time, doesn't have any effect at all apart from make you look a bit clueless and naïve, and wastes bandwidth/space on your profile.

I wouldn't say it turns me 100% off someone but it's not a good sign :/

Corby

I actually got knocked back by Sydney University.

I demanded they used and distributed my pictures but they refused and asked that I stopped emailing them images.

No justice.

Waste....of.....space.

Usually people who think they're important enough that someone else would pretend to be them.

It's not like it would do any good when it comes to actually meeting

"Fuck you've put on weight, have different hair, and your cock looks much smaller. Still wanna meet though"

Sussex

We didn't have the disclaimer and a student from Sydney university contacted us as she was staying in Brighton for 6 weeks.

She reckons it was one of her lecturers who had done research on swingers a number of years ago and he taught her a humanities type subject including extramarital activities etc etc. and they liok at fabs.

We fucked her senseless I might add ...
