I don't like seeing it used as an insult. It just makes me cringe a bit.

There's nothing else that quite hits the same spot in either situation though so it's grown on me over the years.

I don't really like the word cunt, although I do actually like them quite a lot.

As for the origin of the word I've heard I few explanation the best one I've ever heard is that the real meaning of the word 'cunt' is:-

The fleshy red thing on the top of a cocks head. (cock being a cock-a-doodle-do bird)

I'm not sure how true that is but apparently 'Cock's cunt soup' was quite a delicacy in Tudor & Stuart times.

Absolutely, why is it any more offensive than any other swear word like fuck, wank, cock or shit? What is an equivalent slang word for the male genitalia that would make you walk away from a conversation?
