I have to have matching undies, books in alphabetical order, and certain keys in a certain order on my keyring.

I have to have my DVDs in alphabetical order. If someone takes one out and puts it back in the wrong place i start to steam.

Volume on stereo/TV has to be on an even number.

Curtains have to be drawn right over left.

All doors shut.

Books alphabetetised.

Clothes in a certain order in the wardrobe.

Jars/tins etc turned with the label square to front and in categories by cupboard.

Should I leave it there for now?

Bloody loads.

They rejigged our computers recently at work and my desk was all over the shop and at one point it looked like it would have to stay that way, I felt so uncomfortable with the cables everywhere and things in the wrong places I was quite teary. Ludicrous, but it just makes me very antsy if something is not in the right place.

Lladro on mantelpiece has to be equally spaced. I have a huge collection of Bowie CD's (studio stuff and a lot of bootlegs) all in chronological order

Hahaha, you lot are great cause you make me feel normal!

When I'm doing the washing up, I have to firstly wash all the forks together, followed by the dessert spoons, tea spoons and lastly the knives. It really annoys me when I find a rogue tea spoon after I've pulled the plug out.

I'm fairly sure that as a kid, however, I did have a mild form of OCD, because I would repeat things to "even them out", e.g. if I said something once then it didn't feel "right" if I didn't repeat it to even it out. Or if I did something like scratch my left arm, then I'd have to scratch my right arm as well even though it didn't itch... otherwise it just wasn't right. Odd numbers were the bane of my life as a kid... luckily I grew out of that when I was about 8 or 9.

Tra still has a thing about odd numbers now..she's 46! When she crosses a road she has to do it in an even amount of steps. If she gets it wrong she has to do a little pigeon step. and I can't give her 1 kiss,it has to be two

I'm confused. Is this an idiosyncrasy or OCD post? Or are they the same thing?

I thought idiosyncrasy meant to express an eccentricity or peculiarity in character? Please correct me if I am wrong, I wont be able to sleep and will be turning the light switch off and on a thousand times otherwise

lists.... i like lists - things to do, places to go, what's in the freezer (6 sides of a4), presents, shopping... i usually have about 6-8 lists on the go at any one time

and it's not ocd that the mugs have to go in the cupboard in a certain way, is it..? if someone else puts them away (incorrectly) then they have to come out and go back in again
